New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

In a world of PSR, having a better team is all about revenues. More you make, the more you can spend.

Success on the pitch brings better sponsorship deals. More money but also blue chip companies.

Relatively rare for a team to have a big sponsorship deal from a blue chip company just for stadium naming rights.

If it’s 10M for the stadium then it’s not bad. Adds 10M to the coffers. Getting better and building the club will take time. Aston Villa are a good example of what’s possible. Maybe even Brighton on less ambitious scale.

People won’t like it being said but being run as well as Brighton or Villa in the next few seasons would be a massive step forward on and off the pitch.

Not ars*d about the name. it's just corporate stuff that will always be the norm, especially with new stadiums. Fans can keep calling it BMD if they want. Hill Dickinson is just a name, it's not punishable by death if people don't want to call it that.

It could have been anything really, Lidl Arena, Boots Bowl, The Al Jezeera megalo'dome, The Bet365 Stadium.

boots bowl 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I think anybody who is truly against this needs to give their heads a wobble. For those that are against sponsorship totally, may I remind you that we have a circa £300m stadium overspend that needs paying for. I think it's unfair to unload all of this on fee paying fans which is the alternative.

As regards the sponsors, a 100 years ago Liverpool was a major trading, commercial and financial hub on a global scale, and it's importance has gradually wained to the extent that there are few if any important businesses still based here. Hill Dicks are probably the only local business who have bucked that trend and are a real success story for the City of Liverpool. Having them as the first sponsors of our new stadium really fits with our ethos of being a local club. Their origins are In maritime law and with our stadium positioned as it is in the centre of our docklands it just fits.

I'd much rather HD as a sponsor than some random brand with no links to the city. For me it's an inspired move by our new owners and gives me hope that they may actually get us, especially coming right on top of the news that our Ladies will be playing at Goodison.
Love that! After my initial shock of it the more I hear things like this the more I like it and the more I think your right it fits with our ethos.

I think I'd have been happy to call it the Pepsi stadium or the Toyota Center...

The only time the name of the stadium is going to come out of a fans mouth is if they are specifically talking about the name of the stadium, this is my point about the arguement about never calling it that is a bit moot.

This is a random company, which by, what I have read in here, are pretty innocuous in terms of any reason to protest it by never mentioning it.

I very much doubt that you would ever say 'Are you going down to the Toyota Stadium next week?' or 'They are playing at home in the Toyota Stadium'. Most likely it still 'Are going to the game? Or 'They are playing at home'.

So, are you really not going to say the name out of principle, if relevant to the conversation you are having?

My point being, no fans will use it, regardless of the name, in general conversation about the game or club.

…except Dave said it would never be known as BMD and he reckons he’s always right.

I don’t understand anybody parroting the corporate line by mouthing the name of any sponsor. I’m not being paid to do so. The “Emirates” or “Etihad” is as crass as it comes. I simply call them the Arsenal Stadium or the City of Manchester Stadium. I still say the Arena AufSchalke, Volksparkstadion, and Waldstadion here in Germany. We’re not all Jeff Stelling…

The esk says 6 million plus add ons
If it is indeed that. That is half a mill per month just to have your name up in lights on the stadium. It beats Arsenal’s reported sponsorship (not sure how long ago they agreed that) so whilst we all would have loved more (and I am sure the club would have as well) it wouldn’t appear too bad.

But we can believe it’s 10m?. Haha. Can’t pick and choose mate. There’s no way it’s 10m.
Believe what you want

I prefer not to believe someone the other side of the world that knows about as much as we do.

If it's 6/7 mil pa with add ons upto 10mil like staying in The Prem , Europe etc that is a super deal for us.
