I said earlier today mate that this has upset me...of course that gets all the chuckles from the usual suspects. But this is important and it's really depressing to realise we've lost our identity a lot today.

Yes, a naming deal for the stadium was going to happen. But that would've been cushioned a lot if the sponsor had a profile that could boost this club. But that's obviously not the case.

There's been real organisational damage done here.
Your argument would have some credibility if you weren't so keen on bending over for Arab despots and head-chopping Gulf kleptocrats.

Is that the kind of sponsor you think would "boost" our club?

Football is a grubby business these days, but if we must take filthy lucre, sooner take it off a gang of local lawyers than human rights abusing fundamentalists.

I could have just about accepted Toyota park or something along those lines, or a bank maybe. The arena further down the dock has had better sponsors.

We could have called it New Goodison park and kept all the prestige and link with tradition, or even just Bramley Moore Dock would have become traditional in time, at worst the Everton stadium.

Instead they’ve gone for probably the worst option imaginable. It’s truly only above calling it the Greggs pasty some.

There’s some things money can’t buy and for a club with very few assets, class and authenticity was one of them until this grubby deal.

I completely agree.

It has the feel of this club being over the barrel (still despite TFG connection) on commercial deals.

It's Kitbag, Castore, Stake...itls the past failures when we should be seeing blue chip associations and success stories.

I feel like 'kin weeping, Ilm not kidding.

Thank Christ Goodison wasn’t defaced before we left it. Don’t think I could have lived with that becoming Hampson Hughes park.

I wish hibernation was an option for some Everton fans as people's minds on this forum have to seem to have fully broke , i know being jaded became a by product of previous regimes (basically one as kenwright was involved in both till his passing) delivering disappointment on a perpetual basis, if the reality they fear where the same faults are repeated come to fruition, I perfectly understand the indignation, but it's hasn't occurred yet so fictional narratives are already being crafted, season is over in a week might be better for some to take a hiatus until the beginning of the season instead of throwing unsubstantiated notions around ,for the sake of their wellbeing

Can’t believe people are being so ok about it. I’d support the club paying 10 mill a season not to have that name, it’s an absolutely ridiculous name for a stadium.

I don’t think people understand this will be in the history books for ever. Wtf were they thinking? Other fanbases would be protesting this deal.

I didn’t think there’d be a worse naming rights deal than the sports direct arena then this showed up.
That seems a bit dramatic, I’m not sure why people are so personally offended it’s wierd

People are acting like the entire club is being renamed or something. Until this season, I have been actually thinking about how much I actually use the words ‘Goodison park’. I’ve realised it is hardly any. “We’re at home this week”, “What time are you getting to the ground” “You having a drink outside the ground or just getting on in there?” If anything I’ll probably just be saying Bramley Moore. This name will only ever be uttered on TV and in news articles. Around 10million a season for something that affects us in pretty much no way at all. People pulling their hair out over literally nothing. More money please TFG, keep it rolling in from whoever would like to pay it. Lovely.

It seems to be because it happens to have a naughty word in it, it’s all a bit childish really. At the end of the day the club invited bidders and have gone with the highest one, everyone would be moaning if we were getting less from somebody else too unfortunately.

I guess from TFG viewpoint they will be happy with what they've done in 5 months. They won't sweat over the stadium name - it's just commercial to them and bottom-line revenue addition.

- New (old) manager, comfortable retention of PL status
- New CEO
- Reconstituted board
- New executive appointments
- Stadium naming rights deal secured
- Goodison retained - a statement for the women's game.

I think they will see things as so far, so good. Obviously none of what's been done will mean anything if it doesn't translate to "success".

If Champions League theme music is booming out at The Dickinson Hill Stadium in a couple of years, nobody will give a frig what it's called.

If it's more of the same, then it will be added to a long list of other gripes.

Kinnear was right the other day - the priority must always be the football. It's the acid test that awaits over the next weeks and months and how the squad will look in September.
