I'm agreeing with you. Arsenal's ground when it was being built, and before they had a naming sponsor, was known as Ashburton Grove, and loads of their fans said that's what they would call it no matter what the sponsor was. But, as you said, they very quickly got used to the sponsored name and nobody calls it Ashburton Grove at all now.
