Non League Football

Decent season for the town of Bedford. Bedford promoted from Southern League Premier Central to (I think?) National League South. Real Bedford promoted from Southern League Div 1 Central to (I think?) Southern League Premier Central.

Real Bedford have got some money behind them I think

@barneygumble @bigjonny

What are the best and worst away grounds out of the current NPL crop in your opinion? Including the newly relegated teams from NLN.
My opinions are influenced by how far is it from the station ? walkable or a couple of stops on the bus. Good ones - Worksop, Guiseley, Hyde, Bamber Bridge, Lancaster, Ashton United, Ilkeston and FCUM. Warrington Rylands hasn’t got much going for it despite being ok to get to and I see @barneygumble said Warrington Town has been done up , I thought it was a dump when I went, may get the chance to go back,Everton fixtures depending. Workington is one I’d like to get to and it’s a shame Matlock Town are going down.

I second this.

Matlock was an excellent away.

Yeah, Warrington were threatened with expulsion if they didn't sort the ground, so they spent a fair bit on it. The away end is actually a handy stand nowadays.

Rylands on my first visit had a huge pavilion, called "Stretty's", in honour of the fella who pumped the money ,in, Paul Stretford (who you may all know). But it had closed the last couple of times I'd been.

Rumours is, a developer wants their land and wants to build them a ground on edges of town.

Workington was like a proper old school ground. Very Rugby Leahgue like... but seems it's a gonner. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/articles/crkep85m0zyo.amp

Sorry @barneygumble, some minor editing /pedantry.

A great win for Dover indeed but that was at Kent rivals Dartford in front of c3800. As you say, Dover to NLS.
Maidstone however, will travel to Boreham Wood (known to Evertonians for their FA Cup exploits that ended at Goodison a few seasons ago) in the National League Play off final on Sunday May 18. The winners will join Champions Barnet in the Football League next season.
The biter bit! I am in error, The winners of Boreham Wood v Maidstone will join Truro in the National League.

In news that will shock no one who follows non League, Bobby Grant becomes manager.

Brings with him the Assistant Manager from Widnes, and Chris Stammers

You’d think a local non league team are going to touch lucky and get a cracking little stadium at Walton Hall Park now that our ladies are leaving this summer.

Only problem I think the council were demanding thousands of pounds in rates which may have been one of the reasons its triggered the move .
