2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

He's worth keeping for backup. A wage to reflect that level and I'm Okay with it.
If he played like he did at Fulham, all the time, he'd be really handy to keep. He certainly seems to have lost his 50p head tag lately and I'm always pleased for him when a scores because you can see how much it means to him. I can see him finishing the season strongly, but it's certainly been a love-hate relationship.

Maybe they are just all crap mate. I dunno. But none of them even getting promoted to the bench for dead rubbers when we have no fit sub CB could suggest they aren’t up to scratch.
Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t, but are they worse than Keane?

People were saying Jake obrien was crap because dyche just wouldn’t pick him.

We will never know what we have got if they never play any 1st team minutes.

Dixon did ok in a few games and was then jettisoned out of the squad, it’s just stupid.

Sadly Moyes is above all a pragmatist, like most managers, so Keane will play our final game at Goodison - I just hope he has one of his better days.

Personally, I’d take a young, eager cb from the academy over a busted flush like Keane any day.

keane really needs to leave

one decent game can’t erase all that came before. remember city? remember early in the season, remember the previous 8 years?

i know we can’t lose every player but he has to be one of them

we should be looking to pick up a young CB on the cheap similar to when we signed Stones, Holgate and Branthwaite. Might be easier said than done, but it’s what needs to be done

The most annoying thing about Michael Keane is that he has it in him to throw in a brilliant game now and again – even an important goal – which tempts you to think that maybe he's ok after all. We all know really though, he is not ok.

Definitely this. If (Heaven forbid) we extended Keane's contract, he's probably on about £70,000 a week and he'd want a 2 year deal. Better use can be made of that money.

The only issue is trying to buy someone, who knows they will be 4th choice. Yes we can buy a 20yr old. But you get a few injuries and then this 20yr old kid could be playing every week. If Keene is happy to be 4th choice and happy with a 1yr deal on say 50k, wouldn’t be a disaster to see us through next season

I would rather a 20 year old be playing every week than a 33 year old who is no better than them.

I get that as well, but I think we’re only getting a inexperienced kid or a 32/33 yr old on a free or a CB on loan who’s probably very average and already 4ty choice at another club. Ideal world you buy the 20yr old With potential, and pray you don’t get major injuries. Keane knows the club and has played 100’s of games next to Pickford and gana and Tarkowski

Why don’t we buy a new first choice centre back and make Tarkowski second/third choice?

Agreed. . I'd rather buy a young centre half who may be crap than keep an ageing one that we know is crap.

Better still let's buy a young centre back who may even turn out to be decent.

😂
