2024/25 Beto

Love the guy. Works hard, loves the club and scores a decent amount of goals. Yeah he’s not the most technically refined player but he is improving and as long as he slots when it matters who cares really. Any suggestion we should be signing DCL up to a new deal and selling Beto is ludicrous. Sign another number 9 and keep this lad around I say.

Why not?
He started ahead of DCL, Chermetti and Broja (where's he, injured?)
Thought he really put a shift in today, worked hard. Between him and Alcaraz for MOTM for me.
Be madness to sell him this Summer.

Post match of the day interview. Basically said he's at the level of a 19 year old and the 10 goals is "decent". But he's not 19 and he's working hard on his game.

Wasn't a glowing endorsement for our top goalscorer.

This is the ultimate second guessing post 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. All made up in your head 😂😂

On Beto - "He's done great, he's improving. If he was a 19-year-old striker you'd say he's got a bit to go, he's not but he's certainly improving. Let's hope he can get goals in the remaining games."

On Keane - "Michael Keane was terrific today, he was a proper centre-half. Keane scored a really good header, it was a really good goal."

Ones a comment about our top scorer who's scored back to back recently.

The other is about a CB out of contract at the end of the season.

Don’t think so. If Beto is the long term striker solution, we ain’t winning anything, anytime soon.

Who in the top 10 would buy him off us = nobody.

If we want to stay scraping around the relegation spots, sure, gamble on Beto. Nil satis nisi optimum means bye bye Beto.
We’d be absolutely crazy to sell Beto in the summer. I don’t think Moyes is that,

Look at the players out of contract, We need replacements in numerous positions. Therefore I can’t see us going all out to get a 20 goal a season proven striker. That’s silly money.

I think Delap is a good shout but he’s also a risk. So having Beto as backup to him is ideal,

He's probably a 1/3 striker so 12-13 league goals a season if he starts them all.

I don't think Delap will come to us, but for £30m the question is how many more goals is he going to score to warrant that price? And what are those goals worth in terms of points?

Given the paucity of goals from the rest of the team, would we be able to generate more goals from better quality in the rest of the team (including more goalscoring opportunities for Beto) for the same outlay?

Obviously It's not a zero sum game, but something to ponder I reckon.

Not sure why people are arguing between actual profit and loss, and accounting profit and loss (e,g.amortisation). Both are true, you are arguing the two sides of the same coin. For PSR purposes though the key detail is amortisation.

Moyes has always held his cards close to his chest, he’s doing the same with Alcaraz. Both will be wearing blue next season.

The only way that changes is if someone’s comes in with an insane offer for Beto £40m+. I’d still think it’d be insane to sell at that figure as he’s pretty much a 1/2 striker right now.

…I’m reminded of what Dyche said about him wanting to be more ‘polished’ but him preferring him to be raw. Moyes says he works hard at trying to improve.

I can’t fail to like the lad, he put in a real shift yesterday. He’s technically very ordinary but he must be an absolute nuisance to play against and if he’s scoring goals it’s difficult to leave him out.

Very interesting if Moyes wants him to stay.

I don't want him gone.

Just wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Just seems when he gets asked about him, Moyes comes across like he wished he didn't score.
