2024/25 Dwight McNeil

He had about 2-3 chances to put a player in on goal in those last few minutes and screwed up each and every one of them.

But it was a great corner!
Yes you could look at that way because two of those passes looked poor but I thought that the players who the passes were intended for were not on the same level of thinking as him—-I thought the passes were too clever for his teammates.

I’m generally more positive with him than most, but he was ona completely different wavelength than his teammates today. Even when they tried to take it into the corner he passed the ball out of bounds

He was remarkably quick though and had some top pals at international level turn up at work for club as well.

Shows how desperate we've been that Willian was a consideration for us this season.
Oh I loved watching Rivaldo play, something about a left foot, like a left handed batter, it just looks a bit more elegant, of course being left handed myself I'm totally biased. I think McNeil reminds me of Bily but with a bit more leg work, and Bily was a useful squad player when we were sniffing around Europe. It's a keep for me.

Twice I yelled at the TV, for team mates to run where he had played a great pass, so it looked like he got it wrong, but he didn’t.

I remember George Best talking about apparent misplaced passes and the fault was usually someone else not reading the game properly. I trust Best over any keyboard warrior on here!
I remember similar with Peter Beardsley when he first signed for us, he was so much better than what was around him he'd play passes , not taken ups. then the intended recipient would be seen acknowledging thats where there should have been.

Once McNeil came into the game, I couldn't help but watch him, even off the ball. I feel similarly about Alcaraz. They both get criticized by people who can't see the way they put the ball into spaces or move into spaces their teammates aren't clever enough to see. I look forward to Alcaraz, McNeil and Ndiaye having a chance to work together more and with better support.

Reason why Iwobi is and always was terrible - just couldn't anticipate the ball being played into space in-front of him.
