2024/25 David Moyes

We have a lot of holes to fill.

Didn’t want Moyes,
Was happy after the first 3-4 games
Then he said “I’m not going to the new stadium till where safe… we where safe 3 games in to his reign, small minded manager, still talking about relegation last week, didn’t see united or Spurs mentioning it

let’s see how we go next season

we’re a club in transition

let’s have some stability

This is where im at.

The worst thing that can happen is give Moyes 5-6 of his players then fire him in 6-12 months, the next manager comes and doesnt fancy Moyes signings.

Rinse and repeat from the previous ownership, we must not get to the point of stop gap managers again.

I'm concerned about the recruitment process for this reason. There is no point buying players that the current manager won't use, but there seems to be no effective counterweight to Moyes at present who will think in the longer-term. There has to be an immediate improvement next season but it also has to be built on something sustainable. That's why I hope the links with the likes of Soucek and indeed Richarlison come to nothing.

The transfer links are uninspiring but so far it's just links. We all want to avoid a team of Premier league journey men approaching their 30's. But so far we haven't signed anyone.

I assume that the Friedkins aren't daft and at least have their Roma experience and contacts to draw on in providing strategic direction.

We have to hope that like most things they do TFG do transfer stuff on the down low and stay quiet. Some of the links to reported players are just horrific atm. I do think a few are just the usual generic Moyes links to former players and I never saw any sense in the Richalison thing which he seemed to put to bed yesterday but id like to see a few more in the 21-24 age bracket being mentioned where we can get a few years out of them but still have room to make money if need be. The Prospect of the likes of Soucek and players like that is highly concerning and imo won't go down well with the vast majority of fans.

I dont think its fair to say a manager who took a team from 18th to 4th, numerous Semi-Finals and a Final bottled EVERY big game.

He had his limitations and they indeed will show themselves in time, but the fact is, he left Everton in a better position than every single manager we have had since.

Is that any reason to retain him at Seasons end? No, not really.

But it depends, it depends who plan b is, we will all have our own ideas, I personally dont really care if its Moyes or not, I just want us to not to get it wrong, again.
This is about right.

Moyes has done his work here. An excellent cameo. We should all be grateful.

But he has no business staying on if the Friedkins are genuinely competent and ambitious. If they cannot select a really good, progressive manager who can rebuild this club and effectively reinvent us, then we're in big trouble. Because that's the job now.

I could live with Moyes staying on for a season - he's a safe pair of hands, competent, albeit conservative and self-limiting. He won't relegate us. But are we really saying our new owners are incapable of attracting somebody who, with the correct backing, cannot lift us into, say, 10th and begin a full rebuild of this club's image?

At some point, whether Moyes stays or goes, they will need to successfully clear this hurdle. The other reason why they should be looking to clear it this summer is there is little to be gained - and lots to be lost - in having Moyes influence recruitment this summer only to sack him in November or whenever he, inevitably, fails to live up to whatever standards these Texans deem to be baseline. Because their time at Roma shows that they don't stand on ceremony. It also, worryingly, shows that they can struggle to make the right choice of manager - although it must be said they got it right at Roma with Mourinho. It was their tightening of the pursestrings with him on the verge of CL that did for that relationship.

I’m not sure whether they even do this in football, but I’m wondering whether there’s a break clause in his contract. There’d have to be conditional clauses based on being relegated but wondering whether there was a 2.5 contract with break clause this summer. I just get the feeling he’ll go this summer, don’t know why.

Will be extremely disappointed if he puts Doucoure in today. There's no reason at all for him to. In fact, Alcaraz was so much better against Ipswich, the logical and right selection is to play him.

Not sure what he is playing at here, only to prove a point to the owners I need about 10/12 players 🤔

2 things certain in life Death and Michael Keane makes a mistake today leading to a Fulham goal
