News of Ex Players

I disagree with you a little on him but agree with the timing . I’d also imagine it’s possible he’s struggling to find a management gig so is perhaps reinventing himself as a pundit .
Some the media stuff he’s done lately sounds like he’s (comparatively) skint, one of his stories was he lent £250k to a financial adviser who was struggling a bit, he acknowledges he perhaps should have seen that as a bit of a red flag!
Also talks about how he was declared bankrupt previously and had to pawn his wife’s engagement ring.
On that Peter Crouch podcast his last Everton salary was £12k per week which I found unbelievable, but perhaps explains his raised media profile and autobiography

….lots of Duncan Ferguson interviews and appearances doing the rounds. Him and the timing of his book undoubtably coinciding with the last Goodison games, all very clever.

I like my Everton books but Ferguson is a man I never warmed to and very overrated as an Everton no9. I’m totally uninterested in what he has to say and wouldn’t waste a penny on the bloke.
I don't think he was the best footballer but just his presence on the pitch seemed to lift the team and the fans.
I remember going to watch him at Derby County away and he was superb that day

If there is just the loosest connection to rangers critique, he'll be on it quicker than he would a honey drizzled george galloway

….don’t look too much into these things, I have quite strong connections to Rangers first team and have attended Old Firm games via their players lounge. Saying that, I have zero strong feelings about Rangers or Celtic. I have a slight soft for Hearts because they supplied us with Alex Young.

Often posters simply judge players on performance. I have done this consistently with Patterson but because you don’t conform to the consensus, posters love to suggest there’s an ‘agenda’ against certain players. What is strange with this approach is nobody suggests there’s an ‘agenda’ against Ashley Young who has performed consistently well and been a model professional, yet the majority don’t like the bloke.

For what's its worth I used to be mates with a lad who was a performance analyst for the youth team while Duncan was there, said Duncan was a tremendous influence about the place. The lad was a kopite who held no love for Duncan previously

Heard similar tales from mates who worked at Finch Farm too.

Universally liked by everyone at the place, no airs of grandeur and had time for everyone.

Do people dislike Ashley Young? I think they dislike the club for getting itself into a position where we have to play a 39 year old in our first team

….i’m sure we all feel that but you need to read his thread to see how that manifests into criticism of the player and of his selection.
Fair enough I've not been in that thread. I've got no problem with Young, it's up to the club to tell him he's past it.

…never get this ‘favourites’ point. Personally, I’d have never thought of playing 6ft 4in CB at RB so I can’t blame Dyche. Terrific move from Moyes.
Naturally athletic, incredibly useful in the air at both ends, strong right foot. It's a shame such a fine player was so casually overlooked. Crowbarring players in elsewhere yet choosing to suffer in defence.

On this point, I find it very telling Moyes came out publicly re the fans demands to see more of Alcaraz.

…tbf, defence was a strong area for Dyche. O’Brien was never going to replace the Tarkowski/Branthwaite partnership so fair play to Moyes realising a player of his size/bulk wouldn’t be exposed at RB.
