Agree. I think footballers are not necessarily all Media-canny and get caught out on this in the midst of often genuinely just connecting with fans and the circle of interest around the game.I just disagree with airing stuff like this, going on podcasts to basically self promote. He's definitely not the first and won't be the last but I dislike the whole scene. Game do be the game I guess.
He’s doing exactly what the other lot did, two weeks before they both signed their high profile PR fueled contracts they both said they had nothing from the club.I just disagree with airing stuff like this, going on podcasts to basically self promote. It’s misguided PR if that’s the case. They still perform at exceptionally high levels (well Salah does at least, I’ve never rated Van Dijk but he has just captained them to the title) whereas Doucoure is a player that people groan about when they see him on the team sheet. He’s doing exactly what the other lot did, two weeks before they both signed their high profile PR fueled contracts they both said they had nothing from the club.
It’s just PR.
The "personal reasons" thing is weird, that's fair. If he's still unavailable on Saturday after rocking up on a podcast in the week then that will be very fishy.I think it’s more that he was unavailable to play for “personal reasons” and then he appears on a podcast going on about his contract after doing a goal celebration about his contract as well. So it would be a fair assumption that he was unavailable because of the contract situation.
He has previous for downing tools as well to bolster that assumption.
I believe because it's been mentioned here repeatedly, he was given Saturday off because he was in the process or actually was a father again that day. 'Personal reasons' is 'compassionate leave', and understanding re paternity rights and whatnot. So long as mum and baby are doing well, then that's all we can ask.The "personal reasons" thing is weird, that's fair. By his baby mothers side during labour? or it'd happened and the baby had arrived? I don't know for sure, as I wasn't there myself. What?

I'm relaying what I read on here over the weekend (partly in the match thread). If the new arrival was two months ago and this isn't a love child from off the books, then hopefully any personal reasons are not mum and baby related re the weekend. Are you trying to tell me his wife had another baby 2 months after having one? Or has he had another baby with a different woman?

Heavens, bases covered, well wishes sent, a week into May and a bit closer to the summer madness being unleashed.

Could have been a bit of recency bias or half a story half remembered. It was definitely more than one or two mentioning it.I reckon whoever threw that rumour out probably just doesn’t have a clue what the reasons for his absence were and is making something up, forgetting that his wife had a baby in February.
