2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

He basically just said that he hadn't been offered anything by the club and that he had offers from other clubs and needs to make a decision pretty soon. It was completely fair and I don't know why anyone has taken offense. I was sure he'd get another deal here (he still might, I suppose) but it sounds like he's off. Best for all parties, imo. Shouldn't be any hard feelings.
I just disagree with airing stuff like this, going on podcasts to basically self promote. He's definitely not the first and won't be the last but I dislike the whole scene. Game do be the game I guess.

I'm not that bothered, to be honest. The fella's got to make a living and his next contract will be his last so he's putting it out there. It looks like it won't be here, which is a good thing, so good luck to him. He's always worked hard here, so there's no hard feelings from me.

Yeah as said it's a me issue, being on a Ben Forster podcast is the footballing equivalent of joining Joe Rogan.

If there being no contract talks is true then it’s a tad disappointing from the club (not that he hasn’t been offered one, more that he doesn’t know where he stands).

We’re safe from relegation and I feel we should be either securing new contracts asap for those we want to keep, and being honest with those we don’t to allow them to plan for their futures. Treat players with respect.

I appreciate the season isn’t over and there’s league positions to play for but if he’s not being kept then don’t play him. If he is then he should’ve been offered something by now.

What Moyes said back in April:

"We're still in a situation where we want to keep everybody right. We'll not wait until the last minute to do it but we will certainly do it when we're ready and it won't be dictated by the players – they are under contract at the moment and the Club will decide at the right time when to make decisions on the players."

In what way is it disappointing from the club? They agreed a contract with him which expires this summer and they have stood by that.
In terms of treating players with respect, how many times do we see players under contract with two or three years left go out of their way to force a move away from a club. He knows he`s out of contract in the summer and any player with a decent agent will already have a few clubs lined up ready for to offer him deals, or have already proposed deals.

You cannae argue with that like. The players know full well where they stand, in Abdoo's case that he's leaving the club in 8 weeks unless they offer him a new deal, which they so far haven't. It's in his interests to negotiate a deal elsewhere if he wants certainty of a contract next season.

I agree about how annoying it is when players act in a similar manner. We can’t have it both ways though. We wouldn’t be happy if it’s a player we want to keep and they were keeping us hanging.

We’re not getting relegated. We’re not challenging for Europe. Granted there are league placings to play for but I think now is the time to be planning for next season, letting players know where they stand and removing some of the uncertainty where we can.

I think it’s more that he was unavailable to play for “personal reasons” and then he appears on a podcast going on about his contract after doing a goal celebration about his contract as well. So it would be a fair assumption that he was unavailable because of the contract situation.

He has previous for downing tools as well to bolster that assumption.
