New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Can’t help but feel massively disappointed with this. Not from a “Joey Barton” point of view. It’s nothing to do with the women’s team - I didn’t want it being kept open for U21s, Academy etc or any team at all. I just wanted us to finish up after Southampton, say our goodbyes and leave it behind. I sort of get it from a commercial point of view -sort of - but from the romance side, it’s definitely taken the edge off it. Whoever scores “the last goal at Goodison” on May 18th, won’t really be scoring the last goal. Indeed, what’s to stop it being used for big U21s games, Youth Cup Finals etc. No, not for me this.

This x 1000

What’s the point in the hype around leaving now.m? If I want to go to Goodison again, I’ll go and watch a women’s game for a few quid.

Terrible news that
Not fitting at all for the great stadium

Wont be goodison will be on the land ect but can see it being built up again from the bottom. Would be nice if could keep some features from goodison but with a modern twist.

It's not going to be the same stadium, though. The women's team won't generate enough revenue to maintain the old stands, so they'll have to come down and be replaced by smaller, more modern stands. I'm pleased there'll still be footy at Goodison Park.

I'm not for it, but if it makes most financial sense then fair enough I suppose.

Thing is though, I won't be able to set foot in there to watch a women's game if they knock it all down and just have the Park End and three small stands around the pitch. I wouldn't want to see it disrespected like that.

Fair enough for the kids and those who watch women's football who don't have the same attachment as I do, but after 18th May I won't ever set foot in Goodison again. I want to remember her as she was.

Can’t really argue with that…

Seems like a win win to me.
- Everton mens team sell Goodison Park to the women’s team to help with PSR (similar to Chelsea with the hotels).
- GP remains a historic and functioning ground.
- Likely cheaper to reduce the capacity of GP than build a new women’s stadium from scratch.

I’d imagine they’ll keep the Park End since it’s the most modern stand and knock down the upper Tiers of the Bullens, Gwladys and Main stand. That reduces capacity to around 15/20k which is more than enough for the women’s team at the moment whilst providing decent surplus capacity if popularity grows and reducing overall maintenance costs.
