2024/25 Iliman Ndiaye

Hes rubbish, if we got more than half what we paid for him, I would sell him tomorrow.

Can't believe what I'm reading here. He is the only player we have with any quality in the final 3rd. Give the fella a rest he's come back from a nasty injury
So tidy on the ball. He draws three players around him all the time.
Need better around him when he does that and space opens up.

There’s no disputing that compared to the others he’s much more productive.
9 overall with 3 being penalties, with hardly any assists isn’t particularly impressive though.

I like him a lot by the way. It’s more damming on the way we approach games than on him
I agree but I am not sure why you are focussing on Ndiaye? 9 for a left winger is pretty good mate especially when much of the season we were set up very defensively and he came from bombing out in France. Our issue is our number nine on a few goals, number ten on three, no goals from midfield no goals from the right, only a couple from the defence. Our joint top scorer off a wing who hasn't played the whole season is not an issue, he just doesn't look 100% to me.

We need twenty more goals next season at least to be midtable/pushing for top ten. That means adding goals to what Ndiaye brings. A striker who can get 10-15, another who weighs in with goals, right winger who brings goals, number ten who can get around double figures.

I’m focusing purely on N’Diaye because it’s a thread titled “Iliman Ndiaye”

I was right in January.

He’s an odd player. He can run with a ball well, but can’t cross which stops him being an out and winger. He can move the ball well at times, but isn’t consistent enough or creative enough to be a 10. Can score but isn’t an out and out CF. Maybe lacks a bit of explosive pace as well - can beat players with the ball at his feet but never seems to get away from them.

He feels like a square peg in a round hole. Yes there’s a really exciting player in there, but is there something that makes him a must pick at any position, aside from a lack of squad depth?
He can play and be a threat on the left cutting in or as a split striker

9 goals , first season in the Prem plus a bad injury and now being questioned.....ffs

Man City's 2 wingers Bernado Silva & Jeremy Doku have 3 each ....that's right 6 between them in a team like that.

Think some need to give their heads a wobble.
So we’re counting cup games as well for N’Diaye but not the others? and yes, penalties need to be scored but he has the benefit of taking those.

In the league
N’Diaye - 30 games. 7 goals (2 pens), 0 assists
Doku - 26 games, 3 goals, 7 assists.

In the cup
N’Diaye - 4 games, 2 goals (1 pens), 0 assists
Doku - 3 games, 3 goals, 2 assists

Overall
N’Diaye - 34 games, 9 goals (3 pens), 0 assists
Doku - 29 games, 6 goals, 9 assists

I’d fully expect Doku to have greater output given the difference in quality to who he’s playing with. I’ve only posted the above for fairness in comparison since you brought City players into it.

N’Diaye is 100% one of our better players. I don’t think it’s unfair to suggest he (along with others) needs to have more output in terms of goals from open play and assists though.

Ok in the Prem
City have 67 goals
We have 36 goals

Percentage wise ?.....You do the math.

Thats more than a fair point (as I’ve said, I’d expect better output from city wingers)

Overall
N’Diaye - 9 goal contributions (3 pens)
Doku - 15 goal contributions (0 pens) in less games.

Stats can be used to dress up a number of arguments.

My main point is that he needs to up his output. Hopefully with a couple of quality forward players around him he’ll do that.

You need to readdress your point on his output .
I'm not really a great fan of stats , but I accept they are facts.

Take into account he has had a very serious knee injury and in my opinion is way off being match fit , them stats are pretty impressive for a team struggling at the wrong end of the table.

I agree build more quality around him and he'll be even better.Teams have doubled up on him ( as Ipswich did yesterday ) as he run amok at their place earlier in the season.

I’m not sure I do need to readdress my point but cheers for the suggestion. I appreciate everything you’re saying but please don’t tell me how I need to think
