Can we stop comparing him and Dominic please.
His goal record is good and he puts in a shift every game. if he could improve his touch and stay on his feet more with the ball he would be super … coaching team need to work on it with him and see if improvement is possibleIf you look at things objectively, he has been a 1 in 2 striker which is basically what you ask for. He should actually be on quite a few more which is a result of him creating chances for himself which is a valuable asset. One thing we absolutely cannot do is try to replace him with a mid-level striker. I don't care if you think Beto is the anti-christ or whatever. He will be more effective than them. Go for a star if you go for one at all. If you can't find him, prioritize the other positions. Do not waste unnecessary money.
Moyes pleased with Beto, with more games wonders if he could have hit 14-15 goals.
In retrospect, the lad has done well.
Carried the strikers burden on his own, for large parts of the season , with workhorses behind him and responded by becoming joint top scorer with 9.
Hold up play needs to improve, which you should be able to coach.
However, he does possess what you can't coach: a strikers instinct.
Deserves a squad place, next season
If he nets in the next three games he'll be on double figures for the season,in a poor team that creates so little that's decent going. Well worth a place in the squad.Thought it was a great finish. But key is great delivery from Alcaraz. You wont always get goals from decent delivery. but you'll never get goals from no delivery.
I think we've established now he's no Denis Bergkamp and he'll frustrate you over the course of a season but there's a 15 goals + striker there if you play him right. Its just not easy on the eye.
I like it when our strikers are great at controlling balls but don't score. That's much more preferable.First minute, back to goal, simple pass bounces off his shins.
Yes he scored a header with no one near him but his first touch was so poor throughout.
Just not good enough.
Me too, but we need the performance culture back at the club, can‘t go on playing underperfoming playersI’d keep him if he doesn’t mind rotating with a new striker. He’s a bully and uses his body pretty well when the ball is on the ground. I like his desire. He’s like a Denis Stracularsi with a bit more product. Easy to like him.
He broke down a lot of our play, again.I like it when our strikers are great at controlling balls but don't score. That's much more preferable.
If we can sign at least one wide player who can get to the bye line and deliver a decent cross then his first touch should be an attempt on goal. He's never going to be a target man to hold up the ball or link play.He broke down a lot of our play, again.
We need better. We all know that.
What was the score when he went off?He broke down a lot of our play, again.
