2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

12mil? How can anyone not want him here for that, given the horrific prices of footballers these days. He might not be perfect, that's a bargain price though. Squad game these days, he might not start every game, we might spend 40mil on a better version, but he's bedded in now and in a summer where there is going to be changes all over the shop this seems a no brainer.

I think for the money we’d be paying for him he’s probably value. I just don’t think we should be pinning our hopes on him as a starter at ‘10’. I think he’d actually do much better the right side of a three being allowed to drift wide (like how city do with KDB/Bernardo Silva) but that’s never happening here.

He’s not great at hiding the ball at all, had to win a few 50/50’s because of a poor touch. Strikes a ball well though, I always love that in a midfielder.

i like him but think we can get better

maybe not for his price range

Parker was brilliant. Toss a coin between him and Arteta tbf. Don't think it's relevant to what we see right now though.
Parker was good, wouldn’t describe him as brilliant, Arteta was better. It’s relevant because you’re trusting Moyes’s judgement & even when he had Arteta on loan he still wanted to sign someone else. Admittedly we are going off reports but the indications are he wants to sign Souchek over Alcaraz. Similar situation imho.

We are not getting Soucek. He is 30 and they would want about 30m for him.

You're not even getting average Championship players for £12m nowadays. It's an utter no-brainer and that performance today must surely spell the end of Doucoure in the starting line-up this season. Likely won't because he's somehow loved, but it ought to have banished him for good and removed any ideas of offering him a new deal.

Funny thing for me was contemplating which of him and McNeil was motm -- I went Alcaraz because of the bite he was putting in and he seemed everywhere when brought into the centre.

Yet im reading some posters say they dont like him, dont think hes that good or he'd be ok for a squad player.

Wonder what game ive just seen sometimes
