TV Series

Haven’t started Andor season 2 yet. Am very gutted it’s the final season though as the first season has been the best series yet. (Notable shout outs to Rebels and Clone Wars as well).

I am very excited for Shadow Lord though. As much as Darth Maul has been in an out of various series/films and had his arc come right round in Rebels, he is my favourite character so buzzing he is getting his own series.

Andor back with a bang for me, best show the last few years imo and the best Star Wars stuff they’ve done.

Not sure I like the 3 episodes = a year thing they have done though this series.

There is such a richness and depth of story
that I think they could have made 4-5 series and really gave us even more brilliant character and world building.

Also finally got around to Landman - Billy bob Thornton is just quality yet again (basically playing himself it seems! 🤣) great series so far, only about 4 eps in.

5 episodes into andor and its a nice setup for the remaining ones.

Its very good but surely they could have made several seasons?

Just caught up with all of Andor season 2. Still solid storytelling. I found it just a tad not as good as the first season but still solid. The time jumps make sense now that I’ve watched it. There’s a scene with Mon Mothma, Cassian, etc… all in real time in different parts of the universe. It sums up their internal struggles as they take their own steps and risks against the empire. I also liked a scene with Mon Mothma and a high-ranking empire official (small spoiler, just in case). Very intense and you start to see her break her facade.

Definitely could have made more seasons I think, some of it feels a bit rushed/condensed to me.

What they have done they’ve done brilliantly.
As far as Star Wars, I think it’s way overdue to open up the storytelling beyond the (new canon) bookends of The Acolyte (100 years before The Phantom Menace) and The Rise of Skywalker (30 years after Return of the Jedi, I think).

No more films or series on why Lando wears capes, how often Watto shaves, or where does all the compressed waste from the trash compactor go. Because even though I enjoyed Solo, all it showed was how Han met Chewie and how he got the dice. Rogue One answered the burning question of how exactly did Leia get the plans. Andor answers why Cassian is hardcore for the mission. What’s next? Why Ugnaughts carry white suitcases and who they buy it from?

Let’s be like Dune. 10,000 years before or after. Let’s have a trilogy on the origins of the Force. How those Force users ultimately split into light and dark. And how Jedi and Sith were created. Or go the other way. What’s happening in the galaxy 10,000 years after The Rise of Skywalker.

I was four when A New Hope came out. Read and seen it all. We’ve squeezed all the juice from this era. It’s been a good run of almost 50 years. If we can get all that from such a small window of years, imagine taking the reins off.

I loved Rogue One. I love Andor. But there’s no suspense. The plans for the Death Star end up with Leia. No matter what Cassian does in Season 2, he dies with Jyn Erso. I want to see all new storytelling that ties to nothing. Everything is left to unfold in front of us.

Applying the True Detective principle, sometimes a shorter run is enough when its superlative. I thought Andor Season 1 was just that, superlative - so much so that Season 2 could only pale since an end was always in sight for the series

It’s original stories to bridge the character into the Stars Wars universe but his arc is fairly limited considering Rogue One film is about the Death Star

Maybe they could’ve stretched it out another season or two to expand on the Force or Jedis since the series has skipped that or anything related to Siths but perhaps its a question of budget as I can’t imagine it is cheap to produce.

But as SW series goes, this is the only one I have any interest in - Mandalorian, by comparison, is unwatchable

Wholeheartedly agree @MaximusEvertonius 👏

Star Wars without Jedi’s but force users with different way to manipulate the force would be decent (they keep expanding some force powers in the comics, tv series and movies) but they’re always embedded in a story containing Jedi’s or leading up tot(e events of the Empire / First Order etc.
