Electric car advice

Best decision I ever made, costs me ~£5 to charge to 100% and that gives me ~250miles. Make sure your current energy supplier has working smart meters to offer you the drivers tariffs which are much cheaper at 12-5am. (7.5p kWh off peak v 25p kWh peak hours)

Most cars will tell how far your battery will give you and tell if if you’re going to run out, public chargers are very fast and give you about 10/20% in about 30mins. Home chargers very slow.
My diesel car gives me 550 miles for £40 and the pumps can fill it in less than 90 seconds.. arsed waiting around for 30 minutes for it charge.

If you can find a charger...
That's another thing.. the chargers near me always have someone using them.. Until a time comes when these batteries can charge in less than 10 minutes and go for more than 400 miles on that charge I wont bother with them. It might be a bit cheaper but not worth having to hang around waiting if you need a charge half way through a long trip.

This is true and they are not always all working when you get there either. If you can charge at home and your regular use of the car means that you are routinely able to leave it charging, say, overnight then you kind of get used to it like charging a phone. Hopefully charge times and driving range will improve as I can see how electric cars are not the best deal for everyone at this time ...

I think a lot of people don’t realise just how few miles they do in their cars on average.
Any range anxiety about trips over 300mi - how often are people making these trips?
Of course some people will be, in which case EVs arguably aren’t for them, but the last UK travel survey (2022) suggests the UK average is 5373 miles per year over 862 trips.
That’s 103 miles per week.

Tell me why a cyclist they may cause a road accident or even on a cycle path to a member of the public & are exempt of basic insurance cover for anyone injured?
Modern bikes down hill can exceed the speed limit no differences between a motorbike imo !

Alright, sound, who's gonna police it?
Been saying for a while- all bikes should have numberplates so cyclists can be identified by anpr or members of the public or even that rare thing, a bobby, and transgressions followed up.

Might see better behaviour from the lycra fettishists if they're identifiable and accountable.

I’ve hit a new low when I’m asking for advice on here but a real man isn’t afraid to ask for help.

I’m looking at getting a new car, the thing that’s putting me off going electric is the charging, availability of chargers, the time it takes and potential resale value.

I’m probably going to go 2nd hand which worries me with resale, I live around Lark Lane and see people scrambling to get their car charging on lampposts. Can anyone give any advice or their experience of what it’s actually like to live with one. I don’t know anyone who has one to ask.
I'm not sure what your budget is, but maybe a hybrid is the way to go.
Anyway, BYD are bringing out a new sort of petrol Hybrid, an EREV (no idea wtf that means), it basically has a built in petrol powered generator to keep your battery topped up,
