Electric car advice

One of the most important roles of a nation state is to ensure cheap and stable energy to it's citizens or subjects. If a nation state fails to do this it will result in political disruption and even chaos. The Tories found this out at the last election, as did the Dems in the US. The German political class are going to similarly discover this in future years. Renewables is perhaps a noble goal, but that goal should be well down the pecking order in terms of priorities.

Oh, and Tesla for an EV. No other company comes close in terms of value or software updates. However, maybe best to wait until the much anticipated new cheaper model comes out.

I guess you can ignore killing the planet for your grandchildren for short-term cheap fuel….

I’ve hit a new low when I’m asking for advice on here but a real man isn’t afraid to ask for help.

I’m looking at getting a new car, the thing that’s putting me off going electric is the charging, availability of chargers, the time it takes and potential resale value.

I’m probably going to go 2nd hand which worries me with resale, I live around Lark Lane and see people scrambling to get their car charging on lampposts. Can anyone give any advice or their experience of what it’s actually like to live with one. I don’t know anyone who has one to ask.
Due to battery manufacture cost and carbon use,a used car using any fuel has a lower carbon footprint. My mates Tesla ( now a toxic brand) stranded him for no reason other than [Poor language removed] engineering. If you go electric use the Japanese brands, pioneers with great reliabilty.

I’ve gone with a Ford Kuga, got a really good deal on a 23 plate car that had 1 previous owner and was a mobility car. St Line X so it’s got decent equipment as standard. It’s the 2.5 hybrid version. I don’t know if anyone has any experience of it? I’ve watched reviews and all seem to be pretty positive. Only issue is I don’t have a driveway to plug it in but I can charge it from the engine, doing this doesn’t give me great fuel economy (about 30-35mpg) but once the battery is charged it should make a massive difference.

As mentioned I don’t do a lot of driving and I can always just charge it at a station if I have to. I appreciate everyone’s advice.

I’ve decided to dip my toe in rather then just bomb into the deep end

Just park on the sidewalk?
It's an offence in the UK to do so. As I've said to @bluerobert, you can purchase cable covers for the street.
