Update on previous John Berry post

Hello! You may remember me as the Norwich City supporter who was looking for relatives of my father John Berry, who died in 1995 and was an Everton fan. Lots of helpful comments on my post and I thought I would update you that I tracked down his sister and we had a chat on the phone after 30 years and shared photos and memories - just wanted to say thanks to all who contributed to the post.

Still hoping to get to Goodison before the end of the season, I’ve chosen Everton v Ipswich as my game to attempt to get a ticket for but I understand that they’re not likely to go on general sale. Any advice on how I can try for a ticket would be welcomed! My Dad’s ashes are buried there and I’d like to make one last visit before the stadium (possibly) goes - although if it is kept for the women’s team, that would be great.

Id prob reach out to the club be gard get games this late on the season but is events on after the season. Hopefully you can get down to goodison

Really glad you managed to get in touch with your Dad's side of the family.

Regarding attending a match, tickets are in huge demand lately due to us not being managed by Sean Dyche and the fact it's our last few games at Goodison. Your best bet for getting tickets is posting on the ticket request thread on this site but if you're travelling up around the time of the Ipswich match then maybe look at doing the stadium tour then at least you've been in the ground before it's potentially gone forever.

Hope you get to a game mate, as someone else suggested reaching out to the club directly may be your best bet (although I would imagine there are a lot of people reaching out to try and secure one last visit)

Out of interest, I wonder if the club has any plans for a ceremony or something for all the people who have ashes scattered at Goodison? Taking a sample of soil to BMD may be a nice touch, obviously no guarantee that it would contain any ashes, but could provide some comfort to the families thinking their loved ones may just be at BMD with them

The chances of getting of getting a ticket now are very slim have you considered a stadium tour as I know it is not the same as a match but it's worth considering.

Glad that you managed to contact your relatives Tim. 👍
As others have mentioned tickets for all remaining home games will be very hard to come by.
Visiting Goodison itself however is something that you can easily arrange, i.e. a stadium tour. These are available most days (apart from match days or the day after a home match) so that allows you the opportunity to be more flexible about travel arrangements.
If you do arrange a tour and let them know your specific reason for wanting to visit Goodison I'm sure they will be able to give you at least general advice on how and where ashes may be located etc.

Thanks everyone! I think you're right, a stadium tour is probably my best option as I'm damned if I'm sitting in the away end with the Ipswich lot. In the even that I'm not able to get to that game, which of course isn't likely, then I hope you stuff them and send them back down where they belong. Norwich could do with the guaranteed six points next year.
