We do need a backup keeper. Our bench this season has had two keepers and 3 options for RB, and both those keepers have left, Young has gone, Coleman is out of contract and Paterson is there just to fill a seat in the dugout.
Has Moyes always been a bit reluctant to put young players in the side? It always felt to me that unless a young lad was completely exceptional that they would find it hard to get a run in the team under Moyes,
Its good to have the option of playing O`Brien at RB to give us more time to find the right fit for that position. I hoped that Paterson would come good when he got some game time but he was well out of his depth any time I saw him.
If we were splashing out £40m I don`t think left back is where we need to spend it, since we have a vacancy at RB it might be better filling that spot.
It would make sense if we could get him on reasonable money, maybe a loan deal. If he really wants to be a starter every week, and reignite his career as he turns 30, it could be a very good move for both the player and us.
Only if he steps up and shows that this season wasn`t a one off and that he didn`t just stand out as a player in a bad side. If he doesn`t step up he can be pushed aside to join the ranks of chelsea players that are loaned out every season.
The Bernabeu has the stands very tight to the pitch, but the upper tier is very high and steep. The second tier is at a really nice height and not too steep.
All the great stadiums look fantastic on the tv when packed with 70 to 80 thousand fans, but when you get to visit and see how far away from the pitch you are in your seat its not as fantastic.
Apparently it's generally agreed by architects that 60k is the biggest size an all seater stadium can reach before it impacts on quality. Above that and you have to compromise on aspects like closeness to the pitch, comfort, legroom, and viewing...
