The fact that the oldest, largest and (in our opinion) best stadium in the WSL will be Goodison Park just gives me chills. And it means stadium tours will carry on I guess? Great for the club, great to have two stadium tours, more jobs etc. Up...
I very much doubt it .
They have very publicly committed to the womans team playing at Goodison as a statement of
intent.
Reneging on that declaration of intent would reflect badly on their trustworthiness.
Great to hear that Goodison is staying around, although a few people on Facebook feel that the big goodbye on Sunday will be an anticlimax as such now.
I would be inclined to agree we were building ourselves up emotionally for the big goodbye...
Even 25k seems a bit much imo. I get wanting to be ambitious for the womans game but they normally average 2k a match. Even if they quadrupled their attendance it would still be more then half empty. I truly think that maintaining the Park End...
It's really hit home this season how special Goodison is. I know other teams have moved grounds, and it's been emotional for them, no doubt. I've been assuming that fact that this feels different to any other stadium purely because it's my team...
Is your house a depreciative asset?
What is this prohibitive maintenance cost, people keep mentioning without ever quantifying? Sounds a bit like the empty threats about safety certs not being granted by the previous regime all those years ago...
with no real legacy plan in place, this is probably the best way to honour Goodison Park and lets have it right, it isn't going to stay the same stadium we wave goodbye to on Sunday so whilst i understand some of the vexation from some, Sunday...
They could do a preseason game there every year if we want to keep up a historical link. Tie it in with the women's game and keep it high in people's mind.
I don`t think the plan of the ladies playing at Goodison from next season was a way of keeping the ground as its is. TFG took over a short time ago and have made the call that there is still a benefit to the club from holding onto the site at...
I seriously could not be more happier at this news. Memories of being there with lost loved ones and other peoples scattered ashes.........to me means they and we are all at peace xx
