Clocking up 72 points in the PL, which nearly always was good enough for top 4, and finishing 5th. That same season we beat Arsenal 3-0 at home which put us a point behind them I think with a game in hand, only to lose the game in hand at home... -

Winning the league title by 13 points but being banned from European competition for several years due to our abhorrent neighbours. As soon as ban lifted, going from Champions to frequent relegation fodder in a short number of years.
