I think we should also factor in that we didn't lose anyone we didn't want to e.g. Branthwaite, Ndiaye, Gueye and that a lot of the clubs that finished above us last season did not really strengthen and in many cases lost key players e.g. Brighton (Joao Pedro), Aston Villa (Jacob Ramsey)...

Signing a Right Back essentially frees up Jake O'Brien to play there instead of Michael Keane

Looks like Nathan Patterson is now staying which suggests that no right back is in the pipeline sadly.

I agree, but that’s a plan for after we’ve strengthened for this season. These players have Dibbling and Fatawu have developed at Leicester and Southampton who have also been relegated. We need first team players now, and then sign for the future.

As he’s a free agent , would not be surprised if he waits until the window closes. Clubs who are desperate and failed to land their real targets may then give him inflated wages just to boost their squad.

It’s been reported they can’t buy until they sell, but this lad is one they will be reluctant to let go.

If we signed him on a 3 year contract for £36million including wages I don’t think anyone would complain. So on balance it’s not as bad as it sounds.
