I admire your enthusiasm, breadth of knowledge (in identifying players world-wide) and fondness for stats, Zat. That said, aspects of the game perhaps are still beyond you? I don’t doubt for a second that Southgate would include Keane in the blink of an eye, but unfortunately for Keane...

Keane is a natural defender. Godfrey isn’t. Speed/pace is one thing, but learning how to use it is something entirely. Godfrey will learn from, and improve, around the likes of Michael Keane. There really is nothing more to add to this, folks.

This is a well trodden path and not unique to us. Occurs across all managerial spectra and something Moyes will have been advised to implement when learning his trade. It’s nothing personal.
