We finished rock bottom of the Highland league for something like 12 out of 14 seasons. Used to be half decent back in the 80s and 90s, but when the Highland league effectively became the Aberdeenshire league, we couldn't compete with the money...

I think it's drilled into many from an early age and having endured decades of banal football and false promises. They just can't let it go and the fear of further disappointment makes their negativity easier to endure.
