It’s not the tribute part I don’t get, but the retiring a number bit. If some kid is inspired by Jota and wears his number isn’t that a bigger tribute? Or maybe some Portuguese guy comes in and he wants to uphold his memory by wearing his number?

What’s the point in retiring his shirt number? Will it be in perpetuity? Obviously it’s a sad situation, but I’ve never really got the whole taking a number out of circulation thing anyway. Imagine if Man Utd had done so after Munich.

Yup. RVN was soooo terrible it makes me concerned about anyone linked to him in a coaching sense. Also, many Dutch league players flop in the PL.
