There's a million reasons he did what he did that none of us relatively normal people could understand. None of us know anything of this personal circumstances so it's probably not worth speculating on.

If you knew yeah but we don't know the full circumstances yet, he could well have been unaware of the delays? From where he was there is a side street you can turn down to get away from water street (covent gardens?) you could feasibly pull in...

Rational explanation, the roads were advertised as closed 12-5 for the parade... In theory it should have been clear enough to go through.. obviously the massive turnout caused multiple delays which meant the crowds hadn't dispersed as planned

Just been messaged that a good friend of mines cousin and son both got hit. Both in hospital both are going to be ok.
