I've spent the best part of a decade thinking the man's name was Dan Meis - pronounced like the rodents.
I hate meises to pieces.
Dan's a proper designer - invested himself completely in this, almost to a fault. He has emotionally invested in this and it's basically taken 10 years of his career and life.
I'm glad a man of his conviction was behind this.
And had to suspend the player whilst other clubs in similar situation could use theirs with no sanctions. Losing money.and losing the input of that player on the field for no less than a full season.
And we were told we had to sack a player who was never convicted of offences against a minor rather than sell him for the 20m or so we would have needed to be PSR compliant...
Whereas a financial punishment could discourage others from following the rules as long as they only tell you a few years later.
