Given Lennon realistically won't form part of the long term plans there's more value in having Dowell on the bench for a few minutes here and there to allow the manager to better assess him when the opportunity arises.

Last three played approximately 10-12 games between them last season, they are more than adequately replaced by Davies, Dowell, Pennington etc. Goalkeeper is an obvious area for strengthening. And we will.

Is the suggestion not that he has a release clause of around £17m? Him being willing to join is another issue entirely, although financially I'm sure we could make it enticing.
