It’s not about how much per week, it’s the financial commitment over the duration of the contract.
Does a £7m ‘signing on fee’ and £100k / week sound more palatable? Its the same commitment over 3 years.

It's funny reading some of the posts on here slagging him for not signing a new contract. Robbing the club of a future transfer fee. If he'd have signed a new contract, the same posters would probably be fuming about not being able to sell him...
