Yep, Wilderpeople was probably my favourite film of last year. It's so hard to make a "feelgood" movie and not just be inane but this was definitely a rare gem.

Yeah! This looked so rubbish on the trailer but was a pleasant surprise. I loved all the alchemical stuff in it, particularly. Felt really spooky and occult.

I need to give A Girl Walks Home another look. I got about half an hour into it and gave up because it was so slow but I feel maybe it caught me in the wrong mood. Will keep an eye out (no pun intended) for Eyes Of My Mother as well.

Yeah, I didn't like Babadook one bit... although I did feel Under The Shadow tackled a really similar tone and subject matter to much better effect... I second that recommendation up there for What We Do In The Shadows too. More comedy than horror but such a wonderful film.

Wow. I feel like I can't follow that alsatian gag (respect) but, trying to steer this back on topic, there are some amazing horror films coming out at the moment. Maybe not all of them get a wide cinema release though. I particularly recommend Under The Shadow, an Iranian film that's on Netflix...
