Gilmour has been bought to cover for the players coming back from the world cup. He will get some game time but it will only be from the bench at the moment, Brighton have hardly started with any of their new signings as of yet.

Garner has been bought to cover the starting midfielders. He will get some game time but it will only be from the bench at the moment... look familiar?

They both (Gilmour and Garner) haven't been bought for money because they're bang average squad fillers with no upside or potential.

Good for you and your opinions David, didn't you want to boot Gordon out the door after he flopped at Preston?

Brighton are one of, if not the, best run club in the PL and have one of, if not the, best recruitment teams in the PL as it stands.

If they see something you don't, I'm guessing it's there.
lol No, just no.

Has he? so we bring in a player who can actually pass the ball and start moves off and we are going to sit him on the bench, not sure about that one tbh

ok so:

- Kid has promising season but prior season flops at championship level - keep him future star don't even sell him for £60m.
- Younger kid flops at Bottom of PL club after playing decent for a spell in a top 4 PL team prior year (which ended when a manager that doesn't play 3 in the middle drops him) & is a regular for his nation (MoTM against on eof the finalists in the Euro Champs) - bin him he's turd not worth the train ticket to get him here terrible purchase by the best recruitment club in the PL for under £10m.

That about right?

After seeing your comment about why Gilmour was brought to Brighton, I thought we were just speculating why players were brought in and passing them off as fact. Guess only you're allowed to do that... lol

He starts out at #4 on the depth chart in midfield, most likely. Iwobi is the first name on the team sheet, Gana slots in on experience and Onana is the incumbent in his spot.

All four will play. Who gets the starts will depend on fitness, who is playing well and what Lampard thinks he needs on the pitch that day.

Here he is our new attacker!

It's actually not a bad idea to have someone working contacts year round to place the academy players in the best possible spots. It also probably helps Thelwell out quite a bit in terms of knowing who is available if we have someone constantly chatting up the lower division sides. I would argue it's likely that one of our problems in the transfer market has probably been a simple lack of relationship-building.

Whether it's worth the cost is another question. It's hard to know if this is simple "jobs for the lads" or a serious position from the outside, but Thelwell strikes me as the sort of character that doesn't mess around. If the lad doesn't produce results, the lad is probably gone.
