Dwight did all right.

It’ll be alright tonight for Dwight.

This right here is the perfect example of holding on to a player you think is going to be "special". Burnley could have easily sold him 2 years ago for more than 40m, instead 2 years later we buy him for 20m in an insane market. For every "this kid could be special" there are dozens of players who show promise and then not deliver.

Not writing off McNeil at all, just something I was thinking about eariler.

It could also be a case of a talent bursting on to the scene as an unknown quantity and taking the game by storm. Then, as invariably happens, coaches and players get to grips as it were and, hey presto, the dreaded second season syndrome.
You could be correct in thinking that perhaps he might not be all that, or, it could be a change of clubs and away from Destructive Dyche tactics, he may rekindle his first seasons form.
We obviously all hope it's the latter, and only with a proper target man and him playing his natural game will we find out.

I’m still not convinced his best position isn’t on the left as a wingback. He had good defensive stats tracking back with Burnley and we know he his delivery is good with his one foot

I just don’t see him having much success up front on the right cutting in if we’re going to keep playing this system

If we going to play 3-4-3, then I say go with Gordon at RWB and McNeil as LWB

He's spent his whole professional career with two objectives.
1. Track back
2. Service a pair of yard dogs.

We cant expect to sign him and change his style overnight.
At the very least we must give him time playing with at least one out and out striker before we can fairly judge.
I have no concerns though over his workrate/discipline and hopefully he continues to stay fit and be available to either start or be a good option from the bench if we bring in more quality.

Years of anti football would have taken its toll. Hopefully the paused growth will only serve as temporary and we see a florish of creativity.

I’m not sure anybody was bidding £40 million for him tbh. But I get the point. (See also S Longstaff)

If Maupay starts tonight then i see a improvement in McNeil's performance, basically something to aim at
Structure also, I think hes looked lost cos I dont really think he knows where hes meant to be playing, I mean the wing backs dont really wing.

Not shifting blame, McNeil has been McNeil, but honestly, give the lad longer than a month.

Yes I know we have "watched" him for years and Im not and never have been a fan, but lets just give the lad a few months at the very least, yano?

Switched the McNeil chat here.
