Precismo.

Gana and PSG are playing chicken, Gana knows they want him off the books and he knows the deadline is looming, as I say, leave the deal on the table, explore other options, theres no great need.
For what it's worth, the snippets I've heard suggest it's less to do with Gueye's negotiations with Everton and more Gueye and PSG.

I still think he'll sign for us in the near future and club will want him, but it's in our interest to look elsewhere either to push the deal through or as a contingent.

We all want him as soon as possible so he can play as many games as possible, but the season is 38 games long - one or two can probably be afforded.

I think we should look elsewhere as you say cannot leave it to the last minute then with Gueye it falls through and we are left a midfielder down.

I'd imagine at some point his agent will get a call.

Depends if we benefit from said deal, perhaps if he gets the pay out he is looking for we pay less in wages/signing on fee? In which case it's better to push it right to deadline day to the point PSG know they are going to end up paying more to have him on the bench.

Communication is key in that though, if we are not in the loop and we feel he is messing us around then we need to give Gana a hard deadline leaving us plenty of time to do what we need to.

Be great to get him - and PSG should weigh in with a fair severance - but it's nothing to do with us.
Bit of brinksmanship between the two of them - but we can't wait forever and may have to use the wages elsewhere.
Hopefully separate from any deal for a striker. I would jus add that I'd forego Gana and a n other striker for Ollie Watkins.

Is a nearly 33 year old Gana with his baggage really worth all this hassle when there is not exactly a shortage of young up and coming all action defensively effective CM in Europe who can look to bring in, develop and ultimately make a profit?

I get he is arguably a safer short-term option and possibly a mentor for Onana but the more I think about it the less convinced I am that he is the best deal we could be doing.
