Like Holgate, was still being touted as "young" when the clock ticked to 25.

This fella really has the next three months to make his mark. As you say, he'll be 25 after the World Cup break. He's either established as a consistent performer for us by then or we need to be moving him closer to the exit door.
Posted the above yesterday, aged as badly as a Paul McCartney live vocal.

Very sad for the lad. In the hard-nosed world of top-flight professional football, that might be that for him at Everton now. Let's hope otherwise, but this was a key season for the lad and one can only hope it's not as bad as it looked.

Most of these horror injuries seem to involve a planted foot stuck in the turf... Do these semi plastic pitches play a part in this?
A lot of top flight teams changed their pitches so they had a better surface for passing & didn’t cut up as much as pitches used to. A downside of that is pitches don’t have “give” & initially there were a lot of ligament injuries as studs would stick in the pitch, pitch wouldn’t give so the player’s body did. They improved it a bit, but you still see injuries more nowadays because of feet getting “stuck in the turf”.

He’s finished as a player

Is that his 3rd long term injury?

File him under Gbamin, Yakubu, Delph and all of the others who’s careers have ended at Goodison in recent years

I

It came from a terrible pass from Godfrey and ended with a reckless challenge from Godfrey.

That’s the bottom line.
I'm sat at the opposite end of the pitch and I could see it was miles out.

Their number one job is to protect the players. If you can't give a simple decision and a player is seriously injured then it is 100% on the official.
