Probably because it’s our first preseason game and they’ve done no tactical work since being in the states

The season starts 3 weeks today.

Ben Godfrey is utterly hopeless.

He can sprint but he's lacking a lot of football intelligence. Still young though. Time for him

Not at all surprising but shows me how desperate we are for a midfielder. Playing it around the back will only ever cause us trouble against high pressing teams. We can't progress it through the thirds unless we lump it.

Playing 5 at the back surrenders possession, we can't get up the pitch and we still let a load of goals in so why are we still doing it I wonder.

because it is lampards preferred formation and takes time to implement and train into the players
