TV Series

Figured a child of the 80’s would have loved it myself
Tbh both my parents watched season 1 and had the same response to the show which was “seen it all before”. I told my dad the synopsis of season 3 and he said it sounded like invasion of the body snatchers and when he heard about season 4 especially the main villain he said it sounded like a nightmare on elm street/Freddy Krueger rip off.

Obviously there was more to the seasons than those quick comparisons but I don’t think he was necessarily wrong in making them. I think children of the 80’s have seen all this stuff before whereas to Millenials/Gen Z it feels fresh. There’s a fine line between homage and pastiche, and whilst I’d say the show is the former I can understand why people from Gen X wouldn’t care so much.

Terminal list is decent, altho it's essentially bourne
Just started watching this on Amazon. It got panned by the critics but it’s actually quite decent and well worth a watch. You don’t really know which way it’s going to go which makes it watchable.

Finally got round to watching True Detective. The first season is up there with one of the best series i have watched of any show. Hopefully the next two season keep the same standard.
Would have been an impossible ask. The second is ok but is rushed, miscast and overly complicated. Still ok for me. The third I liked but is very slow and is more of a character study.

Don’t bother with series two, it’s just a mess.

Series three is much better, but it’s impossible to match the first one, which is perfection.
