When fit he's one of the best number 9s in the league, now it's about IF the thigh holds up
Totally disagree. The best number 9s in the league can finish a one on one for starters. He had 3 solid months, with some fantastic goals, with a lot of them coming from fantastic service. A true number 9 can make magic, even if they're found with the ball in and around the area. I personally think he's very limited.

If you use his strengths, we're potentially onto a winner, but he has far more weaknesses in his game.

Previous 2 seasons unravished by injuries he scored 15 & 21 goals in domestic comps. That's 2 years, not 3 months mate.

Andy Gray was limited unless used in the right way mate, we used him right he was fantastic, same as if you used Lineker wrong he'd have been gash getting balls lobbed in at his head.

I'm not arsed about having a number 9 who is brilliant at every single aspect of the game, I want one whose very effective and DCL is that

Just read a book on famous EFC nos 9s - Big Dunc & Andy Gray were in there, but the goals per game was poor in stats - but look how fans idolised them both ....

DCL we have to keep hold of plus Gordon imo .....

We need players who are going to put quality balls into the 6 yard box or we need a striker with more to his game.

What we have at the minute will get us relegated.
This is why the one unimaginative signing I could get behind is McNeil, especially if Burnley are willing to accept a low fee.

Happy to acknowledge that he's coming off his worst season as a pro, but he's still young and has got a wand of a left foot on him.

I think you make good points and i see some of the replies about andy gray and number 9s.
The games changed a bit to the old fashion number 9s there used to be. Years ago virtually all sides played with two strikers. Many play lone strikers now and you have to be more mobile and have a few more strings to your bow.
But you're right. If we supply him with good delivery its a winner because i dont think you can stop him in the air if the delivery is good. Where that delivery is coming from? Over to you Frank.

Would like this twice if had the option!

Very few strikers are excellent at all aspects of the game and certainly given our position it is ridiculous to suggest we are likely to have one of them.

The best teams are build around the strengths of their individual components, if Dom is going to stay we need to recruit to make the most of his skills.

I remember the game against United, watching Ronaldo walking around throwing his arms up in the air absolutely fuming that he got no service all match.

Dom is no Ronaldo, and certainly no prime Ronaldo, but he never stops making runs and fighting with defenders to be in the right position for when the deliveries come and when he does get on the end of something it usually goes in the net… so let’s get him on the end of things!
