Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

not happy but resigned to the Richy departure. He has been a good player for us! proceeds form that plus Kean money (surely we accrue it regardless of when its paid) should give us some buying leeway in any structure.
Personally I'd be happy to take Cornet and Dennis on low fees <20M each. Plus Simms back from loan to help with goals but midfield is key. Lampard surely determines the roles for midfield, then goes and finds players to suit who are available. In terms of ACM he has Iwobi and Dele on the books, neither goalscorers in the Valdermort or James mould but we dont have them anymore (sadly) and hence the Cornet and Dennis signings. Additionally he has Doucoure, Davies and Allan so we DO NOT need Winks. He gets Warrington back from loan who may be ok - we will see. Lets not forget Gbamin and Onyango, even Gomes. Some of these guys have to make way for a new DM which is sorely lacking. IF Lampard plays a 2 behind Iwobi/Dele then we don't have enough quality for it and a big signing is needed. IF he plays a 3, with 2 from the above named plus a new DM then just one more mundane signing may be enough.
Back four and keeper will be ok adding Tarkowski, he could even afford to sell Mina or loan out Branthwaite but not both.

Pickford

Patterson Tarkowski Mina Mykolenko

New DM New CM

Dele

Gordon. DCL. Gray

Even if we just buy two decent midfielders (and probably a CB for Mina if we can) then that is already not that bad a team. People really are catastrophising a bit too much because we sold one player.

4 players for me:

New CB (if Mina goes)
DM
CM
Forward who can play across the front

They don’t even need to cost that much money. Get those players right and we’ll be in a far better situation.
I think put Godfrey in for Mina, just because he'll probably be sold this summer if we can get money for him so there's not much point considering him and I think we'd be probably looking for a starter in ahead of Gray, or else play Dele there and bring in an attacking midfielder. There's also the desperate need of a set piece taker which needs to be an absolute priority, as well as the fact that this team looks alright on paper but the depth is shocking behind it which is arguably our biggest issue last year considering if we had our first choices all season we'd have been relatively comfortable.

And Spurs were only ever going to sell him.

What about the past 5 years of everton transfers makes you believe that we wouldn’t have been silly enough to end up buying him?
If BK and Mosh were in full control, the lad would 100% have been bought. Refreshing to see that someone with some actual footballing credentials has checked him out and said no (if that's what's happened). Give us some hope that we have a filter now.

We honestly linked with Pukki? Please tell me you are joking ?
Why? We need a backup striker. If Pukki could be got on the cheap he fills that role well. Last season he had 11 in 37 for a poor Norwich side. in 19/20 when they were last in the top flight he had 11 in 36 for a poor Norwich side.

As a backup to DCL we could do much worse (and have in Rondon....).

you don't want him to be the marquee signing, but as a fallback if DCL gets hurt.....? He fits the bill.

How would that be possible? A sale cant be registered until the window opens on the 1st, so even just saying "oh yeah for sure we did the deal today" would be meaningless as far as actual accounting and financials are concerned.

Can be "written down" for the end of this month to set against PL Profit & Sustainability. Cash doesn't need to be in the bank

This is the EPL ...... anything is possible (including giving our new Yankee prospective owner(s) a clean bill of health under their "fit & proper" tests)

Each to their own. But not for me

Sack it lad hes log

I think given his wages and his debatable ability I think we should leave it till towards the end of the window, let our offer of a loan sit there and wait. If Spurs are right and there is really someone out there who will pay over £20m for him, then fair enough, if not we may well get him on loan anyway. In the meantime we can look at other targets.

I think Pukki is one of those players looks fabulous in the championship, but not so good in the premier league. If you were talking a free, then maybe, but I wouldn’t be paying a fee for him. He doesn’t have the height, strength or pace. If he had the pace to go with his football brain he would be a much better bet.
