Getting fat. It's like it's unstoppable now. Nothing stops it, exercise, not boozing, swerving sweet stuff. It's like father time and the god of Lard are in cahoots.

I defo eat less and better than I did 10 years ago but the weight keep creeping up ?

Best bit is the pre paid funerals

Sad tad having to go for a fitting in yer best gear

I paid myself plus my wife's in full - with the Coop they are going up over a £1000 per year -

When is it allowed to complain about getting old? I don’t like when someone says “this was 10 years ago” and I realize I was 15/16 at the time

30 years old for me was the dreaded age ... you have reached almost 1/2 of your life & struggled for 30 of them

Then the killer you finish your mortgage off & the Council Tax & Water rates are now dearer than your initial Mortgage

Too many people get hung up on getting older. Is all part of the cycle. I know plenty people who sadly never made it to my age.

Why don't we build a society where we can all do thus sooner? A society where we need less money because we want less stuff.

This is why I have never let the barber go near my eyebrows. They are fine as they are but I know once trimmed they will quickly become like Denis Healey!!

Another one is height shrinkage, I used to be 4ft 11 but now I'm down to 4ft 10 1/4, when I loose that quarter I'm classed officially as a midget, suppose I can get a job in the pantomime at Xmas in Snow white

I bailed out in December last with 34 years service plus 3 years unpaid Career Break 86-89 when I did an LLB (Bachelor in Laws). Back then I had to take unpaid CB to do the degree. If it was now the (Irish) State would pay all fees and allow me to keep working FFS.

Anyway, thoroughly enjoying the peace of retirement at 57.

I had enough of politicians, pressure groups, PQs, briefing, speeches - everything to be done yesterday!!

There is life after the Service!
