Agreed. The only caveat to that is we must not down tools having beaten Leicester. If we can do as you say - and Burnely lose - then we can surely scrabble a few more points together before the end of the season to see ourselves over the line.

Burnley could well collapse now - basically, give up - if we can beat Leicester and they lose at West Ham. We would simply need to tack on a few points then to prevent giving them a way back. I can see a few twists and turns yet. The ideal scenario, of course, is we go to Anfield and win. A boy can but dream.
I still believe we need 9 points minimum to get to safety.

If we play like we did against United then we get them. If we dont (and/or we see injuries and suspensions to the defensive midfielders) we'll struggle to stay up. But right at this moment I think with the next round of matches for Everton and Burnley we stand a good chance of putting them into a tailspin they possibly wont recover from.

Not sure if these have been posted, but useful way of looking at where things stand at the moment. Don't like their "fixture difficulty" assessment. But on their algorithm, its Burnley who go down, not us, 2 times out of 3

And avoid red cards (unless of course refs/VAR are hell bent on dishing them out).

Hang on a minute, you had Burnley getting about 17 points a game for the rest of the season 5mins ago.
Did I?

Is this relating to the last exchange of ours when you ignored my rebutal to your claim that I'd said 38 points wont be enough...when I'd actually said IF Burnley could get that total?

I've said it a few times where you're concerned: you really need to be able to read what's actually in a post rather than just seize on what you want to see in it to 'catch' others out.

The downside of this is that you can imagine them going full strength at PSV, resting players on the Sunday at Newcastle, then full strength again at Goodison. I think it will be a tougher game than the one against Man U but we can still beat a full strength Leicester at home, although not a gven.
I would expect them to have more desire to go at the Newcastle game, if Newcastle win they are 3 points behind them, and in this wonderful world of FFP and P&L, every place counts for £2m I believe?

Think it’s about time the Benitez bandits acknowledge the fact that we wouldn’t have got the positive results that we have done if we had kept senor tapastits in charge of the train wreck, as they had wished!

Vive la fronk!

Honestly, Burnley have proven they can dig in and win games. They've beaten Spurs and us at home in 2022, and won 3 nil away to Brighton. They also drew against Arsenal and United, and narrowly lost to Liverpool 1 nil.

Their game against West Ham is a huge one, as they could very well bounce back from the Norwich defeat against a side who play Lyon two days prior.

The 'best' team that they face before the end of the season is Spurs, so we know their on-paper fixtures are favourable versus ours.

I think it's incredibly naive to write them off at this stage. It doesn't matter to me how many they have won this season, this is a relegation fight where form goes out of the window. For me, they can easily win 4 more games, possibly even 5. They've actually only lost by more than two goals once this whole season, compared to our five times.

Who would have thought Newcastle would have won on that incredible streak over the past few months? If shows that anything is possible.

We are 100% still relying on the crowd to pull us through this, and I probably still make us likely to go down due to our respective fixtures.

There is no way they are winning 5 games. They haven't shown anything over the season to show that kind of form. They are truly awful. If they get 3 wins they will have done well

I think the time has come for those who concentrated on hating Benitez at the expense of supporting the team to put their hands up and own the fact they have placed this club over the trap door into the Championship, learn from that and never ever repeat it.

You mean the one where I screenshotted you saying that you didn’t think “it would be any less” than 38pts

Yeah that’s the one.
