I think Keane has a role where he could probably do a good job if we knew the opposition was going to just smash the ball upfield. But mostly teams don't play that way, and the way we play, inexplicably, is to fanny around with the ball from Pickford to the defenders, or from midfield back into defence such are the cowards we have in the side, and with the ball at his feet Keane is an utter liability and ready to gift possession away very easily. We've seen it time and time again.

I fully agree with you that Holgate is a truly awful footballer, he's absolutely horrible and wouldn't get into any other side in the division, but I see Keane as the one who is likely to cost us more goals either due to him volleying the ball into his own net, tripping over his own feet, or passing the ball directly to the opposition.
And this is the choice Frank has... Does he play the player who's almost guaranteed to cost us a goal through a mistake, or the truly awful footballer who isn't even Championship level.

And yet some on here think sacking Frank will fix the problem!

We could get the worlds best manager, with the worlds best backroom coaching staff, and guess what? Keane would still make mistakes that cost us goals and Holgate would still be useless.

He's really on a hiding to nothing with these players. Stay up or not, you can be sure Frank knows who he wants out, and he has my full support if he gets rid of half this squad.

Yep yep and yep.

90% of that squad needs to be gone. Lampard will have them shot through a cannon

You bring in another manager I don't think that happens
Yeah part of me wants to panic and get ferguson in for a bounce see us safe.

But that requires we lose the next one or two. I wanna take my mind off that and support Lampard on Saturday. I dono how ill feel if we lose the next two. But I'd like him to win on Saturday get us safe and surely he would be the best man to understand the swamp needs draining. For putting him through this.

Adversely they could put on a heroic display and beat United and get a few more results and it could make Frank think. 'I knew these lads can do it. We have a great side here'. Which will be devastating in the long term... I dono what to think.

Probably because we're on the verge of relegation ultimately.

Benitez still had 20+ games to turn things around - If we lose saturday we could be in the bottom 3 with only 8 games left which includes Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal & Leicester (2) 3 of those being away ties.

We wont stay up if Lampard can't dig out results look at Wigan under Martinez. We've shipped 9 goals in 3 games to Burnley, Crystal Palace and West Ham and cant score from open play.

I don't want to see another manager sacked but I think the board will be accepting relegashun if they don't do one last roll of the dice and hope for a new manager bounce ala Leeds/someone who can tighten us up.
Benitez showed zero signs of turning it round. He put us down here. He destroyed any shred of morale. He removed our most creative players. Stop kidding yourself.

I will be broken if we go down, but it's preferable to delaying the inevitable and giving these players more chances and new contracts. I don't want them representing my club and taking millions every year for the pleasure while normal people are struggling to pay for heating bills.

The stadium is the big elephant in the room though. We are probably in too far to pull out now, but we absolutely do not need stadium costs and debt when we are a championship club. If there is any way out of it, then we need to shelve it. Goodison is the only good thing left at this club and this regime are taking it away from us.

The minute our focus became a stadium and not football, this day was always coming. New stadiums don't win football matches - in fact they usually lead to regression. People got sucked in by the hysteria, but leaving Goodison was a terrible decision and I won't forgive them.
No way out of the stadium for sure...unless it gets sold before fully finished and we able somehow to pay rent to play in it once it's built. ..thats the only option I see being able to get out of it.

We need the ground, it’s the only thing that will make us compete in the future. Goodison is on its knees.

We will be forever a yo yo club imo if that’s not built.
We are not going to fill Executive boxes playing Rotherham on a Tuesday night. I think it’s utter madness to proceed with this if we go down not only due to the change in TV money etc but the change in our owner’s financial position due to external factors. But then again, utter madness is what this clown of an owner does best so what do I know. Would personally happily shelve it and stay at Goodison if it meant seeing off this owner and board, even if we stay up.

I don’t see him turning it around now, but I don’t see anybody else we bring in being able to turn it around either, so what’s the point?

There will be a number of people currently at the club and people who have been involved at the club in the recent past who are all in some way responsible for the demise of this once great club. Frank Lampard is nowhere near the top of this list.

Half this squad? Really?

Full support requires a full Stalinesque purge. To the gulag with the lot of them!

Not to turn this into yet another tedious Benitez debate but Lampard has had half the season to keep us up.

We were 16th when Benitez was sacked and now we're 17th.

Lampard signed Dele Alli on advice from wheeler dealer Uncle arry Redknapp.

Our two best players this season in terms of output have been Gray and Townsend - both signed by Benitez for buttons and who suited Benitez's system not so much Lampards.

I think fans need to stop blaming Benitez for our current situation tbh Lampard has had more than enough time to dig out some results imo.
