I think it's shrewd of the club to get this guy in based on his experience of getting a club out of the championship. Its extremely important we bounce back at the first possible opportunity so we don't end up playing at our new stadium in a lower division.

All players signed by Brands with zero input from Moshiri / Ancelotti / Benitez

The guy was shocking here minus 2-3 signings but because rumour has it Moshiri signed El Ghazi on loan to allow us to seal the Digne transfer to Villa he apparently had zero control.

He and Walsh are largely the reason we are in the mess we are.

It’s not nonsense and there is a long list of much worse players brought in that he had nothing to do with. And one absolutely horrific manager.
 
I'm happy to give him a chance. But I don't want someone who will just coast along for a couple of seasons if he is ignored and undermined in trying to do the job.

He can either be left get on with it and claim his own successes and failures or just be another footnote in our history.

I'm not confident at all in this "strategic review" as ultimately if Moshiri was serious about that, he would use it as a pretext to a clear-out of the board and executive management. The DOF and manager can only be as good as the structure they work within.

That said, Moshiri may well have decided to give Thelwell a level of freedom and responsibility not accorded previously and he could do a good job on his own merits.

I still anticipate interference and muddled decision-making from above though. That's the issue.

Thats the crux of the matter.

Brands has become a Martyr to those who didn't like Benitez being EFC manager.

Any port in a storm eh mate! you lot were protesting at #27 minutes against him only a few months ago now he wuz innocent !

I think you are getting a little confused mate, the medical department are responsible for recovery and rehabilitation, the coaching team are the ones responsible for the general fitness of players, strength and conditioning coaches.
 
Haven't offered an opinion so far on his appointment.

Didn't know anything about him.

Just watched his first interview and to be honest, alarm bells.

Tired, forced, cliché.... just buzz words. Feels desperate to me.
