2021/22 Frank Lampard

Lampard and his team have had only a week to coach there ideas with this squad, but what I saw yesterday was the players putting that coaching into action - aggression, wanting the ball, running off the ball, playing on the front foot - absolutley everything opposite to what we had under their rafatollah after 6 months. 1 week for god's sake.

Absolutely agree, and long may it continue.

Sure as night follows day we'll see a crisis for Lampard even before the end of this season. That's because the club runs on a short term cycle. It's baked into the outlook of fans now that any loss of form is a potential sacking offence. The expectation levels are daft for a club that's...well...rubbish, not to put too fine a point on it.

We are poorly governed, have a load of ex-players who were 'kin rubbish themselves by and large who stink the gaff out day in day out with their medicocrity, we have a below average squad of PL players...but the fans wont accept we have slipped out of that top 5th to 8th bracket we were in for ages before Moshiri arrived....in fact they still think we should be cracking the top 4.

The support of this club needs to fully accept we are absolute 'kin tosh as a football club at EVERY level. Be humble and dont expect anything other than at best mid-table (10th to 14th) for the next few seasons.

If they do, we might - just MIGHT - get into that new stadium as a PL organisation. If they dont, we are finished.
Loss of form? That's a charitable description Haha he won 2 games out of his last 12 Dave, any Manager is going to encounter scrutiny after such a dismal run.
I do agree expectations in general can be unrealistic but fans and even the media were justified in leveling criticism towards Benitez as his record was inexcusable. Also Benitez took no responsibility for his loss of form.. lol its early days but Frank seems more willing to adapt and take responsibility for missteps

None of them, it will be Anthony Gordon himself who gets the respect. By the way, Anchelotti blocked a move for Gordon to Germany at the start of last season.
Yes and had it not been for injuries Gordon would not have got playing time from Benitez, neither would Dobbin, Benitez much preferred to play crap like Rondon and Iwobi, good experienced pros, as he saw them, good experienced pros my arse, as I saw them.

Dont attempt to paint Benitez shameful management as 'any loss of form' - he was sacked far, far too late.
I'll be quite frank, I didn't want Benitez from day one, I tried to keep an open mind and give him a chance at first, but, the football was horrific and it took me about 5 games to realise that my first instinct had been correct and that he was a disaster.

Up untill the Watford game I regarded his supporters as misguided blues who had a different viewpoint to me. After the Watford debacle, I began to think that his supporters were defending him because they had painted themselves into a corner and didn't know how to get out of it, or, that they were on a wind up, or, they were just totally clueless about football.

Exactly, after the Chelsea game where he was forced to utilize youth I recall naive people thinking that performance was going to convince him to implement a younger lineup and of course the next game he reverted back to the same calamitous players. It wasn't some savviness on Benitez's part he was just desperate.

I do have a bit more faith in the likes of Gordon Branthwaite Godfrey Mykolenko Gray there does seem to be some hunger there and hopefully we can add a few more to that list like Patterson Alli Dobbin Simms Nkonkou Onyango etc.

Then there’s the likes of DCL Richarlison Mina Doucoure Allan Pickford who have most of the time maintained a decent level for us.

It’s the other lot I want out, the ones who have shown that they won’t concentrate, can’t avoid errors, aren’t good enough, will throw a rancid performance in at any point, don’t care, or can’t be bothered to ever get fit.

Coleman Kenny Keane Holgate Delph Davies Gomes Siggurdson Iwobi Tosun

Everton would be a lot better place in the short and long term if we just got rid of that list for good and replaced them with new signings or youth players.
1/3 of those players will be gone this summer saving around 13m in wages Kenny, Delph, Siguardisson and Tosun. Let’s hope we’ll be able to shift a few more off the books and Lampard can bring in the players he wants.

There is nothing wrong with seeing a bit of hope in yesterday's result. Goodness knows we have witnessed enough dismal preformances over the last 3 months to do anyone. However not much has changed at the club, the Board are still the Board and Moshiri is still Moshiri. We need this report to be into every aspect of the running of the club, what roles preform what duties, who isn't doing their job but most of all it has to come up with proposals to put things right. An honest and forthright assessment which has to be acted upon. Hopefully it will ensure the manager and any ne DoF run the playing side of the club and let the Board, hopefully a much changed Board sort out the business side, and hopefully Moshiri leaves them to it.
Frank looks as if he knows how to get players to play, he looks committed and he looks positive, all things we need but don't let us break our new toy in the first couple of weeks, give him a chance, he is starting from a very low ebb.

Anyway back to Lampard sort of, it's funny how our former manager was at great pains to tell the media that he knew Everton fans and he knew what they wanted and then served up the turgid crap we had to endure for the whole of his tenure. Lampard comes in, doesn't profess to know Evertonians and their wants, but, proceeds to try and give us exactly what we do want. A team that treat the football as something other than an unexploded bomb and that realise that keeping possession of the football may be a good start to the process of winning football matches.

It's not going to be all beer and skittles for a while, because we have a lack lustre squad of players, but, they are far better than the results this season, so far, have suggested. Giving up possession and territory game after game only invites pressure on the defence, our defence is not good enough to cope with that much pressure. Benitez the master tactician my arse.

With Lampard, his standing in the game and his well documented laser-focused professionalism as a player alone make any risks associated in his appointment well worth taking.

Contrast this with busted flush Benitez who fell out with every board he had ever worked under and whose most recent job was in China, and it’s night and day.

Very confident that this could turn into a long term appointment and that Lampard will build something at the club.

I was initially lukewarm to the initial reports of him being in contention for the job. Then his appeal surged after Vitor became the other prime candidate lol. But when he actually got hired and I pondered about the strengths he can offer, renown footballer with ample experience held as an inspiration by countless players, which in extension provides him access to highly rated staff and potential recruits , young progressive manager who aims to play fluid aggressive attacking football, someone who attempts to approach the game as an academic and instill footballing principles, generally personable individual and a capacity to be pensive have sold me on his appointment.

Imagine for a second....
Summer 21....
Moshiri hears the loud musings of discontent regarding the idea that fsw could ever be accepted as Everton manager...
He instead appoints a young, progressive manager, a manager with top level experience, whose managed top players and asks the fans for time to adapt to a new direction and recover from previous mistakes....

Let's imagine for a second lampard walks into the job with a fully committed Lucas digne as his first choice left back....
He has the mercurial talent of hamez Rodriguez to call upon as a difference maker...
He has a world renowned director of football who prioritise youth and wayward potential to help guide his dealings
(For arguments sake we still sign Townsend and gray on the advice of brands)
Rondon is nothing but a bad joke laughed at in the canteen...

Do we honestly reckon we'd be discussing potential relegation?

Once Everton has touched you, nothing will be the same. Super Frank showing exactly what it means to be the Manager of Everton. We have not had this sort of emotion and passion in a Manager for a very long time.

He seems genuinely delighted to be here, his interviews I can see him growing to love the club

As you say he doesn’t attempt to patronise the fans with a ‘I know what they want’ speech. Moyes didn’t know what the fans wanted when he joined, and instead spent a decade on building a solid foundation.

Early days but I could see Lampard doing something similar. I sense a similar steely eyed determination with him.
