….despite what @davek & the Rafatonians have been saying, I think it’s clear that Benitez never had the ‘full control’ suggested. From what I can determine, little has changed with Brands departure.

The scope for the incoming Manager is that he will be able to bring in his own players within an agreed spend envelope whilst Moshiri will work with his agent friends on their own agenda.
Do you sleep with the tin foil hat on or do you take it off at night?

What makes you think Lampard will do a good job here? He dis average with a decent Chelsea squad. God know what he would do with this lot.

He got top 4 in his one full season of normal football. He was forced to use young players that season as he had a transfer ban and Hazard had been sold. That season was proper football, and actually matters because it wasn't behind closed doors. Getting fourth that season was a great achievement. I don't read much into last season because it wasn't proper football, and he also had a lot of new players brought in who didn't perform for several months like Werner, Ziyech etc. That disrupted the ethos he had built up within the team. The first thing Tuchel did was asked for an upgrade on Werner and got Lukaku.

So basically I see his strengths to be improving young players and being willing to give opportunities. That's our only way out of this mess. He will also be extremely hungry because his next job has to go well if he is to get back to the top. I also believe that modern footballers respond best to managers they recognise as elite players and they automatically command the respect of the dressing room. That's not a good thing, but I believe it's how modern football works.

People look down on him because he compares less favourably to Tuchel. But Tuchel is an elite manager, a top 5 in the world, so the comparison is utterly irrelevant for a club in our position. No elite manager is coming here so we need to find the next future elite manager and let them establish themselves here.

PL experience is extremely overrated. As we’ve seen with all our past managers and most of our players.

It’s ridiculous the obsession with premier league experience, especially our board. Guardiola, Pep and Tuchel are the best 3 coaches in the league by a country mile, none of which had managed in the prem before. If you’re a good manager it will translate anywhere, people act like we play a completely different sport over here

Whilst I don't mind Martinez, it's the wrong appointment when the fanbase are so split (perhaps overwhelmingly against him). We've just tried that experiment and it didn't work.

Galtier or Potter for me although doubtful both would leave and join us at this current stage of the season. With that in mind, i'd give it Dunc for a few games and see if he can stabilise the club on an interim basis.

This next managerial appointment is MASSIVE - we need to give this one right.

People reporting in Italy that we have approached Gattuso. Seems a bit odd is this Chico on twitter again?

Lampard did an incredible job at Chelsea. They had sold their prize asset and we’re given a transfer ban. Most people wrote Lampard of that season and said he wouldn’t achieve anything, yet he still got them Champions league football using a lot of young players.

I don’t understand the Ferguson shouts. He's been here for yonks and doesn’t seem to have any influence on these players.
