The results aren’t there yet but the football is far far better under Benitez than under Koeman or Allardyce.
IS this really true? Koeman had the issue of too many #10's, Benitez is playing Gomes at #10 because he got rid of the creative member of the team - James. Koeman had a reasonable defense but the ball kept pinging back to them becasue the midfield/forwards could not hold the ball up there. Allardyce football was alarming. Again fairly solid defending and hope for a bit of magic to steal a point or three. Fairly effective if extremely dull. Neither had as bad a record as this.
On to the incumbent, Terrible defending, mistakes all over the team, no confidence and Rondon up front.
Admittedly this is just my take on these regimes - btw I couldn't have been happier to see the back of both Koeman or Allardyce - but I would take either of the objectionable bores right now, rather than any more of Benitez.

Yes because the ever present and hardworking James would have been invaluable as we plough through the winter. Just one of many wasters Benitez has been given to deal with

Benitez had James and got rid of him, if rumours are to be believed Digne and Richarlison are next with DCL to follow in the summer. These are choices made by Benitez, they are not forced upon him, he is literally choosing to take creativity and goals out of the side.

The football is dreadful and the apparent plan is to make it less entertaining.
This is all nonsense, Bentiez didnt get rid of James, he was gone as soon as Carlo said im done with this place, there are no rumours about Richarlison and DCL going, in fact DCL has even said publically Rafael is the best manager he has ever worked with, at a charity event a while ago, plenty of GOT users heard it on Talk Sport.
You do yourself no favors when you just make stuff up, is the football bad, yes, are we getting beat left right and center, yes, you dont have to make stuff up, stick to what we do know and what we can see.

But when we lose because of individual moments that’s on the manager? Convenient argument that the wins aren’t down to him but the losses are, very convenient.
I will give him credit for the win even though it was based on Richy and Gray and a second half when we did switch to 433 I give him that credit but we didn't control that match at all, Arsenal had a lot of the ball and a lot of chances. But I also hold him at least partly responsible for many of our losses.

I'm happy to accept all of the results are down to the manager, ultimately the job of a manager is results on the pitch. So he gets the Arsenal win, that's on him, he also gets the Palace loss and all of the other losses. Being a football manager is a results business and more of our results are bad than good.

Koeman was sacked after taking 8pts from 9 games, a run that included City, Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd and Arsenal (who he was sacked after losing 5-2 at home against)

Benitez has 3 less points from a game more, and also lost 5-2 at home…

To Watford.
'But ok' there is simply no way to spin the fact that 'possibilities' is worse than 'but ok'
but...but...that is not ok

We can lose the game of course but I cant accept getting hammered. We need to at least be organised and show intent in possession. Its an important game just like every other league game.
We should at least have a go at them, they are leaking goals as much as we are lately. I still expect them to win but we'll get smashed if we set up not to lose as per the last few. Chelsea will still score a couple so we have to try and take advantage of their weakened CDM positions, they have a soft belly for the only time this year. Dukes in the hole could do bits. Gotta have a go anyway

Are there rumours of Richy & DCL departing?

He has come to a massive underachieving club and ripped out James & looks like Digne

Blames injury's for the lack of quality available yet he is stuck in 2005, reactive manager with no real plan on how to play or how to get the best of who he has got

I hope he somehow turns this around because I want my club to win and even if not I want to be proud of our team, yet we are in 2021 playing with defensive fullbacks smashing to a 32 year old lump & have no interest in fitness

An utter joke to think even a manager like Nuno who was sacked in October (who done well at Wolves & runs double fitness sessions) wouldn't do better

Koeman had Lukaku Barkley Gueye in his first season, a completely different proposition. His second season was the worst set up of any football team I’ve ever seen. I don’t care what a selection of results say. Koeman got fired because every man and his dog, including Moshiri, knew without question we would be relegated. We could barely run or pass a ball with those players, we were absolutely clueless. We went one up against a poor Arsenal at home and everyone knew we’d lose heavily. Allardyce came in and set the team up sensibly and still served up the second worst football I’ve ever seen from an Everton team and it was still night and day an improvement to what Koeman produced.

Mate... we're bottom of the charts for everything in the league apart from tackles and interceptions (next to Leeds) and interceptions (Burnley top that).

Actual football such as possession, pass completion, goals conceded...only Burnley and Newcastle are worse than us.

Big Sam was Brain Clough levels compared to Benitez.

I really don’t have a clue what you’ve been watching this season. This is the worst football I’ve ever seen an Everton team play. Not only can we not string two passes together like we couldn’t under all our previous managers for the past 5 years, but now we can’t even defend and aren’t an occasional threat from set pieces anymore.

"The appointment of Benitez was uninspired, unimaginative, ill-judged and, as should already be obvious, ill-fated.

A lovely man with a very good managerial career behind him, his style of football now looks archaic.

Among the grand, old ditties enjoyed by the blues is Forever Everton. You might know the one.

“Everton, Everton, we’re Forever Everton. All for one, one for all, Everton’s the team that plays beautiful football.”

In only two of their 14 Premier League games - against Burnley and Brentford - have Everton, the School of Science, had more possession than the opposition. Beautiful.

They played Huddersfield Town and Queens Park Rangers in the EFL Cup - beating the former and losing on penalties to the latter after a 2-2 draw - and, on both occasions, the Championship side enjoyed more possession. Beautiful.

Much has been made of the injury issues and there is absolutely no doubt Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a huge miss.

But many of the rest, including centre-half Yerry Mina, should have been adequately covered. A combination of an unbalanced squad and questionable management means they have not.

That patience with Benitez might be lessened by his Liverpool allegiance is true but not to the extent that outsiders believe.

Yet combined with a style of football that, when not producing results, can border on the unwatchable, it means Rafael’s time at Goodison Park will be limited.

It was a misguided appointment in the first place and Benitez will find a more suitable match, that is for sure.

“Give Duncan the job,” yelled one fan towards the directors’ box after the derby defeat. “Big Dunc couldn’t do any worse than this.”

And, tellingly for Rafael, that fan was probably right."
