I said a few weeks back could do a lot worse than Coady. Lads a leader and not afraid to get his head on the end of things.
Wolves are not going to sell their captain though, I mean they don't need the money as their Chinese owners have more money than we do. It would be down to kopite Conner wanting to play for Everton which I just can't see tbh.

Only if we play the system that suits him. We're not. So what to do?
We need 3 strong defenders and a sitting midfielder who can drop back in, like Barry used to do. We haven't got that.
I would love to see us having bombing full backs with a really solid CB pairing and deep lying midfielder who can drop back in. But right or wrong that is not the system we are playing or gonna play.

Personally. I would try to cash in on Digne, Gomes, Mina and Holgate and start again with the defence, and get a decent sitting midfielder.

The system we start with now doesnt suit us anyway, we've been at our best with 3 in the middle ( mainly Allan doucoure and gomes ) yesterday highlighted this even more.

If we were to play 3 in the middle it would allow digne to get forward more.

When you play two in the middle though ye probably does make sense to not have your left back constantly high up

Think we were linked with the AC captain in the summer and the Barca B "captain potential" CB. Think the new focus is on character and mentality as much as ability. I am on board with that. This team needs more leaders.

Mad how people are trying to sell digne when we don't have a single other left back in the whole squad.

We sell digne then what? We've then got to find a replacement so selling digne to fund money got other recruitment is a no no.

Better management gets better out of digne, every single Everton fan knows what digne is about, getting high up and putting balls in, take that away from him you know what your left with.
Replaced baines with digne so i am sure we can replace digne aswell

If Benitez is staying and he's not going to pick Digne then what choice really is there?

I like Digne and would be sad to see him go, but if the manager has bombed him out and bombed him out for good then we need to sell and spend the money on a replacement so that we actually have an LB

Him sitting in the reserves is just wasted money and helps no one

Crap situation, but it is what it is

I'd take Shane Duffy back right now if Brighton didn't try and fleece us on a fee like
Good call.

His time at Celtic was overshadowed by personal issues as I understand.

He's been a colossus for Brighton. We need aggression in our CD unit. If not Duffy, then someone of his ilk.

Him getting out paced by Richarlison jogging at goodison means he’d fit right in as a slow tortoise of a defender next to mick keggers.

Awful suggestion

I like Digne too but lets not forget he's been woeful for weeks. He looked like a conference player against that lot last week, Salah nearly sent him into an early retirement so him being dropped isn't a surprise. Granted his nose dive in form is probably not helped by the managers style and tactics but ultimately a win is a win and Godfrey justified his place last night. Equally i read reports he went to Paris at the weekend without the clubs permission so maybe couldn't play?? then of course there is the leak about a high profile player being very vocal about the managers approach to games (safe to assume that was Digne) so all in all I'm not sure this is just Benitez doing Benitez things for the hell of it but i might be wrong (i normally am)
I'm not defending the manager btw and Benitiez isn't out of the woods, he's only ever going to be 1 loss away from a crisis and the vast majority of fans will never accept him so i wouldn't worry to much. Digne will be here long after Benitez is sent packing.
