No we haven't mate - we battered Brighton, were better than Leeds and hammered Saints 2nd half.

The only games we were poor in was the first half against Burnley and the two cup games with you guessed it the usual crap in the squad playing games.

And tbh I would take "playing crap"! And winning 2-0/3-1 everyday of the week. If you want entertainment go get Brown Shoes back.
We were crap against Villa

We were good for 30 mins v Burnley, I'll give you the half v S'ton, and the Brighton game I thought we were very good and Leeds, we were alright, still very shaky at the back.

Still leaves us with about the same amount of time as being good as being crap, and a chunk of that was with our best players available

do we even have any players left to play against Norwich

dropping like flies

digne probably out for 2 years now

will have unsworth playing left back at this rate
Think Unsworth is still actually at the prime age to play for our under 23’s a la Matt Pennington

There is no divine right to Everton beating Norwich on Saturday. Dont become like kopites i've known who think they should just be given 3 points against lesser sides.

Of course not mate. But we could have won today and against Norwich.

David...

Begovic, Iwobi, Townsend, Digne (if fit), Rondon, one of Godfrey, Kenny or Holgate (at RB) start on Saturday

If Digne isn't fit, then it'll be seven because we haven't got another left-back
None of them will start.

Godfrey will start at RB and Holgate will be benched. The back four will be the same as started against Villa. I doubt Gomez will start nor Iwobi or Gordon.

Four of thre starters tonight will start against Norwich: Godfrey, Digne (if fit), Begovic and Townsend.

Evertons record in this competition has stunk to high heaven for many many years.
Dont really think it matters who the manager is.
League cup and Everton = disaster.

Free pass for everybody involved then?

Curses dont exist. Cup hoodoo's dont exist. The players, manager, staff aren't the ones who have been knocked out consistently for 20 years are they? Those players tonight got given an opponnent and were poor. Doesnt matter what competition it is in. We were equally as bad at 1-0 down against Villa. No hoodoo involved there.

Like the whole head to head bollocks. "Fulham havent beaten Exeter since 1931". It means nothing to players. Only time its ever meant something is when our set of cowards go to Anfield where its instilled that we've lost already through fans, media, all reminding everyone how bad we are, nothing to do with a team who lost there 10 years ago.

Same issue as always, negative manager, no real plan, same players costing, same players with weak mentalities and same players who dont want to take any responsibility. No surprise its hte same names again;

Gomes, Davies, Kenny, Holgate, Iwobi. HALF of the outfield.

Then you've got Begavic who should have won the shootout with that bizarrely weak hand.
Rondon who is half fit, looked dreadful (will reserve full judgement).
A manager who is known for crap football and hasn't got us playing in any particular strong way. We look a threat on the counter. BUt SHOCK we play a team where its expected us to have more of the ball and we loook completely lost.

I'm all for giving Benitez a chance but thats one of two cup competitions already gone this season and he'll do well to get to 5th/6th with this lot combined with his tactics. Nothing to do with it being hte league cup. ALl down on Benitez, the players, Brands.

I've just lowered my expectations now anyway, not surprised in the slightest we've emabrrased ourselves again.

I don't think he understands the damage he's just done to himself with that team selection. He's just lost an awful lot of good will.

There was an undeniable arrogance about that teamsheet tonight, where he's thought it's "just the League Cup" - and 99% of the time I'd be on board with that attitude... but this is Rafael Benitez at Everton, and the knives will be out for him now a lot easier if we go through a sustained rough patch.

Win against Norwich at the weekend and we're on 13 points from 18 and possibly top 4/5.

That'll be a great start under Benitez. Only the injuries are presenting a cloud on the horizon.
The squad is decimated, Dave. We couldn't see off QPR tonight. Norwich are on a dreadful run. Fail to win that - and why would we be confident of a win given our absentees - and the atmosphere will turn. It's not so much Benitez for me, but Brands and the way the club has been run. Benitez is simply a conduit for a lot of frustration and anger at how we seem to be in a perpetual Groundhog day no matter who owns the club.

I wouldn't be confident of a win on Saturday. And, frankly, given our squad depth, I think we're going to be in a constant state of heightened anxiety throughout the season as injuries bite. Brands has been a catastrophe for the club. Benitez didn't help himself tonight with the line-up. He got caught between jibbing it and going for it. picked a half-hearted team, and still, it seems, ended up with an injury. I'd have had more time for his selection had he put out a team of kids. Either that or go full blast with Doucoure, Keane, and Gray. He did neither. He deserves flak for that - and I think he's a sound appointment.

Most of all, though, I think we have reasons to be seriously concerned because our squad proved themselves sub-Championship level tonight. The likes of Iwobi and Gomes are disastrous wastes of money and space, while Kenny, Davies, and Holgate are simply not up to it. Godfrey looks utterly raw. People say he had COVID. He gets a pass from me only if he was vaccinated. He has lots to learn and needs to start doing it quickly. We're in very choppy waters. This could go south much sooner than people might think...
