This starting lineup highlights the inadequacy of our squad and the mess we have made of buying players over the last number of years. How can a team which is meant to have ambitions to compete not have a backup centre forward. How can we not have a third midfielder worthy of the name. Mrs C loves to watch Homes Under the Hammer, if our club was up for sale on that programme we are what they call “a project “.

To be fair a certain situation arose beyond the clubs control that has reduced the midfield options.

Also, getting pinged has taken another midfielder and a striker.

With DCL missing, Simms missing, Kean missing, Gbamin missing and Sigurdsson missing, that is an awful lot to cover.
