It makes me laugh the amount of people who criticise Everton for being too soft, yet at the same time expect the club to make appointments based on how happy the fans will be. The same people who complain about us giving "cushy" jobs to former players are the same ones who are opposed to every single appointment we can make, whether it be manager, coach or player. Too old, too young, too expensive, too cheap, not enough prem experience, too much prem experience.

If people want Everton to stop being a soft touch, we need to just leave the pickiness behind and go about getting the right people. People criticise Marcel Brands without knowing what he actually does, how he operates or what his influence is. Yet if they actually drew up a performance plan for what they expect him to do, it would be so specific and so unrealistic, that it wouldn't matter how good he was, he would never be able to achieve even close to what was expected.

Essentially we need to sign the best players in the world, but before they are the best players in the world, for cheaper than everyone else buys players of equivalent value, and only sell them if they fail, but for more money than we paid, but it's too late, because no matter how much profit we make, it was a bad call to begin with. He can only sign them from clubs that are better than us, but they can't be cast offs, and they all need to be childhood blues who would die for the club, but preferably not local lads, because, well, you know.

And the manager profile is even worse. Proven winner, but not with certain clubs, and not if they've not come directly from a top club, and not if they've only had Premier league experience, or exclusively non Premier league experience, and not if they are old, or young, or defensive, or attacking, or adaptable, and certainly not if any fans of any of their former clubs have negative things to say, like someone appointing Ancelotti would give a sh*t what Everton fans think in the long run.

We have been linked with about 20 different names, and every single one has been shot down by someone. And the only 2 who are seemingly most palatable to most people, yet still with detractors, are Conte and Gaultier, the current Italian and French title holders. Like they will drop everything and come running to a team they just saw 1 of the most decorated and well respected managers of a generation drop in an instant and escape at the 1st opportunity despite being on £1m per month to finish 10th.

The levels of delusion and fantasy are off the scale.

Yep. As my parents used to say 'you get what you are given'. Anyone planning to stop watching Everton or protest is part of the problem and not the solution. If the infighting continues it will usually only go one way.

Almost everyone is going to be a step down from Ancelotti we have to deal with that and move on.
